I've always been confused on the rumored behind the scenes interaction/relationship between Triple H and CM Punk. When Punk was signed to WWE, I thought had read rumors that Triple H lobbied to bring Punk in because he liked his talent.
(On a side question: Why did people used to call Punk the "Triple H of ROH"?
But then when he was called up to the main roster there was always rumors that Punk had heat with management. Some newz site even speculated that it was HHH himself that had heat with Punk. Maria in one of her shoot interviews said that Punk wasn't well like by people backstage due to being guy from ROH but I don't think she mentioned Triple H by name.
Now I'm not a Triple H fan by any means, but I really have a hard time believing HHH giving rat's ass about Punk on way or another. Are we supposed to believe that HHH saw or heard about Punk's interview with Joe years back where mocked Triple H and possibly accusing him to be a belt mark? Are we supposed to believe the HHH cared about some guy on the indy scene using his finisher? Are we supposed to believe that Punk has achieved all this success in the WWE despite have a huge political figure backstage trying to derail him?
Can anyone shed light on the latest rumors about on their relationship or just in general of what they've heard/read about it?

I remember a funny story that HHH was upset that CM Punk got a better reaction than him at Survivor Series 2006.
There's a joke about it in someone's sig I think.

Even if Triple H does hate Punk, as the "news" reports indicate, who cares? It shows that Triple H is a professional and does not let personal issues get in the way of professional matters. Punk's career has not been damaged in the slightest. This is all assuming Triple H and/or management even has heat with him that is.

The HHHate that some fans had at times is very stupid, irrational and ridiculous
Like that time when somebody said as a joke that bryan was fired because the tie incident make HHH daughter cry and he lobbyed to fire him, and lots of people believed it
For the record, I don't care for lots of things like HHH burying people, or the use of politics amongst other things

The only real confirmed heat was about someone being mad about Punk taping his wrists and hands.

I remember that one of the fan European house show reports in either 2008 or 2009 reported that Triple H, CM Punk, and Beth Phoenix got out of the same car to work out in the gym.

On a side note, does anyone else remember that before Punk's debut there were rumors that he was going to have a "deaf wrestler" gimmick??

The only real confirmed heat was about someone being mad about Punk taping his wrists and hands. That someone is Tony Atlas. I'm thinking that when The Undertaker heard of that story, he replied by taping his fists in front of Tony's face.

Thank god Heyman was there at the time, imagine if Punk had a goofy gimmick? And Punk didn't call HHH a belt mark, he called himself a belt mark. He was being tongue in cheek, and called Trips the "CM Punk of WWE".

I really don't know how they would do a deaf gimmick, at all. In my job I have to sign, as I work in a deaf environment, and I don't see how it would work in the WWE. And when people say it's 'goofy' I find it kind of insulting.

CM Punk got that nickname because he was perceived as overpushed in ROH at the time - he was positioned as the favorite to take the belt off Samoa Joe, he had a ton of promo time, he had his own stable - in general he probably got more exposure in 2004 ROH than anyone else. He later joked about it at length in the Punk/Joe shoot interview, saying that he didn't care about anything except the title, because "Dammit, I'm TRIPLE H!" (Cue Samoa Joe cracking up.)

While I have trouble believing most any rumor I hear online, HHH and Punk both have an old-school approach to their wrestling and their promos, so I wouldn't be shocked if Hunter was really high on him.

Giving someone with full hearing a wrestling gimmick of being deaf is, seeing as there is no way that it would be done properly and without any inappropriate humor.

Tag partner mocking CM Punk without consequences, then revealed CM Punk has been lip-reading etc.. It would be terrible.

If they had heat why did Triple H make sure that he wasn't eliminated when they were in the same Survivor Series team?
Triple H has an eye for talent. He was correct to lobby a push for Sheamus and he'll probably find a way to put McIntyre over.

Imagine a deaf person watching, watching a person act deaf, yet he's coming across goofy, and is the blunt of inappropriate humour. How would they feel? It's just the same as an actor being deaf on any other TV programme. Just because it's in WWE, it doesn't make it alright to be made a mockery of.
