A good example of an excellent gimmick being slapped on someone who wasn't able to take it. Huh? He was Vampire Warrior before he was ever Gangrel. Seems to me WWF just gave him a different name and let him use his own gimmick. Hell, he had his teeth made into fangs before he ever entered the WWF, too.

I am well aware he had this gimmick prior to wwe but I also distinctly remember his teeth having caps on them, they would often fall from his mouth during matches.

He was awesome. A great gimmick, quick on his feat, and dat theme with the entrance. Mic Skills were horrible though.

WWE was ahead of the times with that vampire crap. No, they were just riding the popularity of Buffy at the time. That they managed to get on at the height of the show's popularity is the remarkable thing.

He seemed like the kind of guy that could of been around for years and tagged up with different kind of workers and possible won the tag titles a few times.
It's a shame because just before he left the only real aura about him once he finished up his entrance and got in the ring was that he was(thanks to the booking) a massive jobber. He was actually quite good in the ring when he had singles matches.

I never saw anything remarkable in him to be honest. Never had the look or the body, or the personality. Sure he was cool as a vampire leader, but he himself was not a talent that I saw as anything significant or major.
I saw a lot more in Kevin Thorn than I ever did Gangrel, if we're comparing similar characters.

I like that he had hair like Curt Hennig too.

The entrance music and the rising in the circle of fire is one of my favourites of all time. However, never really rated him other than that which is a shame.
Whilst having a vampire in WWE to cash in on Twilight etc might be a good plan, I do not see it happening any time soon whilst the WWE is PG rating. There was actually a section about this in last month's Powerslam magazine, and for once I actually agree with them - as you could not really have a vampire gimmick (be that Gangrel or Kevin Thorn) without utilising blood to some degree.

I thought he was prety good. Solid in the ring, though I agree his mic skills were incredibly poor. I was very disappointed when he got let go again in '06.

I went to an Indy show last May where he was a special guest along with "Road Dogg". He actually looks pretty good and looked like he hadn't aged at all.

I too thought he was decent in the ring. I got to see him have a match with Al Snow live at Capital Carnage '98, and it was very good.
He had a nice double underhook suplex, I remember. That theme music was awesome, I agree.

I still love when Hardcore Holly called him "Dracula, You Fat Bastard".

I was rooting for Gangrel to take the European Title from X-Pac at the Royal Rumble in 1999. I thought that would work in nice with Dracula/Romania/Europe... it was such a crock that they got about 6 minutes for their match, and that same night Bossman and Roaddogg got like 15 minutes for their NON-title match.

He never looked fat to me, but his face was. It was a pretty strange contrast to the rest of his physique.
He was a more talented performer than he's been given credit for; excellent brawler in particular. He could have had some good feuds with the Undertaker.

If I booked it he'd be WWE champion from 1999 to now having competed against the entire World multiple times.
I loved the guy.

Pretty far until he opened his mouth and killed the Brood. Him and Edge both had terrible promos in that first one... which yanked the rug out from them. It's funny to me that the one who STILL refused to speak (Christian) turned out to be way better on the mic then the other 2 members. Ok, maybe not WAY better then Edge, but I think it's funny the mute of the group had the most charisma later.

I loved The Brood and enjoyed Gangrel. He wasn't the best wrestler but he was still really entertaining. Loved his entrance. Honestly, with the current vampire obsession I'm shocked the WWE hasn't rushed in another vampire themed wrestler. I know they had Kevin Thorn but he was around a year or so before the vampire craze seriously took off thanks to Twilight and stuff. The WWE should bring him back and capitalise on vampire's popularity
