I've read a small amount of speculation about the IC and US championships eventually being unified. I really don't like that idea at all. If any championships are unified, it should be the World and WWE titles so it's established that there is one top guy for the WWE. Really though, I think the championship situation they have now is just fine (I would have liked to see them introduce a women's tag title instead of the diva title though).
The tag titles being unified was a good idea, because WWE hasn't pushed the division in years. 10 years ago, they might have been able to get away with two tag titles. However, having two midcard titles to chase gives plenty for the midcard wrestlers to do. I think the divisions would get too crowded if they were all going after the IC title.
If the brands are ever unified, I'd like to see them adopt a title situation that is similar to Punch-Out : ;D
US Title = Minor division
IC Title = Major division
World Title = World division
Basically what they had with the Euro/IC/World title, except this time around don't dump on the title like they did with the Euro and constantly having it handed to people or being tossed away.

I don't recall WWF/E having a TV Title.

I like the idea. It'd give IC title the credibility it deserves. Too many titles involves too many storylines, and not everyone needs to be wrestling for a title (divas are a prime example of this). If there was a title I miss, it'd be the cruiserweight title. But since WWE won't push small guys, and the small guys like to 'roid up, it seems pointless.

This is a terrible idea because there are 70-something people in WWE with an expanding number coming from FCW, and having only 4 or 5 titles (two of which are divisionary titles) would mean that there is a ton of people left without anything to do, which means most would get realeased or left in the dust. And jobbers and lower midcarders like Chavo, JTG, Trent Barretta, and Zach Ryder would have an even less likely time of going anywhere now that there are so few of titles to fight for. Just an all around terrible idea.

With fewer titles, they may have to write good storylines that dont just consist of "I WANT MAH TITLE BUT I DONT KNOW HOW!"

Why else would they be wrestling other than to win matches and championships? It's not like wrestling provides a way to have a variety of storylines. It usually boils down to wrestler A not liking wrestler B because: 1)he has the title he wants 2) one of the wrestlers has been a dick to the other 3 maybe something involving a woman

(yes I know that would be number 2, but still!) I'd actually like to see one or two more, rather than less. It would hopefully give the mid to lower card something to do!

I say rename the US Title the TV title but keep the lineage. Change its look but do not unify the title. Like mentioned before, it will be WWE/Unified Tag/IC/TV/Unified Divas, which should not be too much titles. No brand extension but keep the TV Title exclusive to Raw and the IC Title exclusive to SD.

Combine the brands, unify the world titles. And WWE is good to go. 2 midcard titles are okay, as long as the IC title is established as the more prestigious. I would like to see some older stars like Edge competing for the IC title, maybe it could blur the line between main event and mid card and allow for some more interesting, fresh match ups.

Why change the name? It's not like the names of wrestling titles mean much anyway, aside from having something that sounds nicer than WWE Midcard Title #1 and WWE Midcard Title #2. The only reason a name change might seem necessary is because the fans are so used to the IC and US titles both having the same spot on the championship tier. I'm sure fans would eventually get used to both titles coexisting.

I say change the name because they both more or less refer to the same places. The US means the US. THE IC Title refer to North America and South America (basically of all of America). Already by name, the IC Title seems bigger than the US belt. Plus, it would help to distinguish the meaning behind both belts.

Whatever happened to the TV Title? The WWF use to have the European title, which was the secondary Mid-tier championship. It got unified with the Intercontinental Championship in a match between RVD and Jeff Hardy like 7 years ago.
