And you all laughed at me when I said Chavo's Caddy Nick Nemeth would be a main-eventer one day.
You all asked "Who?" when I said Nicky was my favorite Spirit Squad member.
You all insulted me when I chose Dolph Ziggler as my handle.
Who is laughing now?

If you had said a year and a half ago that The Miz would be WWE Champ at Royal Rumble and Dolph Ziggler would be challenging for the WHC at the PPV, I would have offered to eat my hat if that ever happened.
So, long story short, I'm surprised. But Dolph has been gold on NXT.

Mitch > Dolph Ziggler.
Time will justify these claims.

It's still a really stupid name.

It's still a really stupid name. Hey, if Johnny Nitro can randomly show up one day and change his name just because, then there's still hope for Ziggler.

I came here to post this thread and it turns out I've been beaten to it. Nonetheless, I can't stop smiling. I'm pretty sure he won't win it, but they have been pushing him pretty hard lately, what with the tying HBK/Taker for the match of the year and being #3 (I think?) on the people to watch for in 2011 list.

It's good to see someone different going for the WHC, for once.

I never did any of those things. And I love Dolph Ziggler. I even like his name. Yeah, its kinda stupid, but not so much that I can't take him seriously.

He gets a shot, congrats to him.
He's not going to win, but I guess it's nice to be elevated.

Ziggler has been very impressive this year. He truly deserves this World Title match. I'll definitely be looking forward to Edge/Ziggler much more that Edge/Kane (which has thankfully ended) or Miz/Orton. Edge and Ziggler's match on SmackDown a while ago was very good! Ziggler probably won't win, but at least it'll be a pay-per-view worthy match.

Ziggler still has a few things going against him if he really wants to be a world champion. First, his name is terrible. I just can't see "World Champion Dolph Ziggler" at all. It just sounds dumb. Second, he has a lousy moveset. A bunch of headlocks and sleepers just doesn't cut it in 2011 unless your name is Randy Orton. He would be better off getting beat down every match and selling a ton, which he is good at.

My only problem with this - and it's a minor one - is that Ziggler won't be in contention for the Iron Man award at the Rumble. Someone tell me I'm not the only one who expected him to reach that achievement.

I don't know. I feel Dolph just has "it" in terms of his look, his mic skills, his gimmick, and even his move set. Call it lousy all you want but it's no different than Cena with his limited moveset, same with Orton, and even Miz to a degree.
However, I have a feeling this push is just a test to see if he's ready for the main event.

Hey. I've been a fan of the guy's since I first saw him as #500 in the PWI 500 and looked him up on the internet. Something about him has always clicked with me, and I always said he was the best member of the Spirit Squad. Sure he floundered a bit, but once he had those sick matches with Rey for the IC belt last year, I said he would be a World Champion one day.
In short, I've had a totally straight man crush on the guy since way back.

Truly if you were on Team Miz back in 2009, you were destined for greatness and world championships.

Call it lousy all you want but it's no different than Cena with his limited moveset, same with Orton, and even Miz to a degree. I'd be willing to go a little farther, and say that even if Dolph's moveset is somewhat limited, he's got a really firm grip on how to use the moves and make them look important, in addition to his great sell-jobs for his opponents. He doesn't "overcome the odds" or contort himself "like a viper" but I think his ring psychology is better than Cena's or Orton's in its own way.

Who exactly did all this to you? In the same vein let me be the first to say this is as good as it will get for Dolph. I'm a fan of the guy, but that's my guess.
