When he first arrived in WCW he was dominant. A true freak of nature. The man was over 7 feet tall doing drop kicks, top rope moves and was the next coming of Andre.
He was that good.
Then he went to the WWE and immediately got his asswhooped on a daily basis, never reaching that level of dominance he once had in WCW. While a lot of that has to do with his weight gain, I think even more has to do with poor booking.
What made Andre so special besides his size and the fact no one had ever seen a man that big before, was how rare it was to see him. There weren't 20 shows a week where he was on tv jobbing and being over exposed.
I always felt the Big Show should be more of an attraction. Dominant and unstoppable, but not wrestling every week. He can be a smiling baby face, but don't make him mad.
Give him an Undertaker type of schedule where when he does show up its like "Oh s***, something is about to go down", especially in the Rumble.
Oh well, too late now. Doing that at this point is meaningless, but I always felt thats how he should have been booked to start with.
Who would have thought WCW had it right the first time?

I agree with this. On the old Andre vhs, Vince himself said the proper way to book a giant was as an attraction.

I think Big Show has been booked awesome since his return. He's looked like the dominant monster he is. Hell I can't remember the last time he lost a match.

I think Big Show has been booked awesome since his return. He's looked like the dominant monster he is. Hell I can't remember the last time he lost a match. Cena made him tap on regular basis with the move he couldn't apply on him. But guess what.... he overcame the odds!!!!! I really hate Cena....

I think the goofy face thing he had going on works well for him. He's surprisingly charismatic for a 'big man'. Heck, he's more charismatic than alot of normal wresters I could name.

First off, they shouldn't have called him Big Show, it just sounds goofy. Also his music really sucked, yet he still uses it after 10 years.

Like a Giant. Becuase, in reality, he is one.
Dominate, intimidating, and very powerful.
And also a face. Becuase you can see on his face how much he's likes being a bayface. H'es having fun with it. Not "I'm gonna beat these joobers than eat them," look.

Have him appear once a month on Raw and Smackdown just decimating the competition, never leaving his feet, never speaking into a microphone. After about a year or two book him into a feud where he leaves his feet and the evil heel that took him down does a number on his knee so he has to stay off tv for a few months. Have him return and SQUASH the heel, making himself so credible in the eyes of the fans. Have him slowly fight each individual heel on the roster, tearing them all apart. Then give him a microphone and say now that he's the biggest and the BADDEST that nobody can knock this giant down. This heel turn makes all the lower end babyfaces mad and they each try to fight him. After a few months of domination have him fight one face on the midcard, maybe US title material (jomo or mvp would have been perfect for this) where they actually knock him off his feet and Show is so mad that he just storms off and loses in a countout. A few weeks later have the face that knocked him down go for a title but Big Show makes his return and annihilates the face and feuds with him. The blowoff match will go to the Big Show but the face looks better coming out than he did going in. Finally, have Big Show win the World Title and hold it for a year, defending it once a month. Have him beat Cena, Orton, Edge, Taker, or any other top face. Finally, in time for wrestlemania we have the returning babyface who knocked him over coming back in to feud and actually defeat the big show at mania. There, you just created an unstoppable Giant and a brand new main eventer in the face who took him out.

I liked when we saw first signs of goofy Show, when he was wrestling in costumes, goofing around, then his opponent wound him up, so show then proceeded to annihilate them.
A 'big goofy guy with one hell of a temper' sort of gimmick would have worked well, I think.
I do think the huge contract he signed with the WWF (as a giant and member of the NWO) hurt Show, because if he was fit to perform, the bookers had to use him. They couldn't book him as an attraction, because they would be paying him more to stay at home than a lot of the other guys would receive to wrestle.

He's a really good perfomrer with a boatload of charisma and works well as either a heel or a face. He was booked rather poorly when he first showed up. He didnt need to job to Austin (and most significant PPVs for the past decade plus) He's outstanding for a 7+ for a guy who really seems to battle weight issues,
