Perfect time to get a bunch of crappers togeter, all get suits, monocles and top hats and raid the store! "I say my jolly good store employee, my I get you to direct me to the Professional Wrestling section of this fine establishment?" You mean we should gather our posse for something OTHER than beating up nerds and college boys who think they're better than us? So I've been in my bomb shelter clutching my double barrel shot gun for nothing these past 14 years? No, not at all. In fact, I'm posting from my bomb shelter with the double barrel within arm's reach right now.

I work at a best buy and no employee in my stores media section would ever say anything like that. Sure they may be to incompetent to find you the dvd, but they wouldn't be rude about it. Probably because NYC/Brooklyn is a big WWE hotbed

I worked for a big box retailer (not Best Buy) and I'll tell you that any employee that'd make any snide comment to a customer would be fired that day. (and no, I wasn't fired from that job)
If you told that chode's manager I guarantee you his New Year would be ruined.

It's not like he called you white trash. He said that most the people who come in to buy wrestling stuff look like white trash. That's not stereotyping, that's being honest about who buys wrestling stuff from that guy.

Normally I find the use of someone's virginity as an insult stupid, but in this case that douche had it coming.
I'd like to think how the Brain would respond to him...

I, like many, never apologize for my love of wrestling.
Wrestling to me is a great mix (at least when done right) of theater and acrobatics. What is so wrong with enjoying that?

So would it be appropriate if he told a well dressed guy who is buying a hip hop album that most people who buy those from him are uneducated gangbanging types?

Oh, but don't even try telling somebody that wrestling is theater or, God forbid, an actual art. You'll get laughed out of the building. Some people just refuse to let go of their beliefs about what wrestling is and who wrestling fans are.

I predict a Nexus style beat down if the employee gives any guff ;D I bought the DVD in the Orange, CT store. The girl that helped my brother and I was extremely polite. And the guy that rang us out, liked my Nexus shirt. So I can't beat anyone down, lol. They had to be...or else.

I usually respond with "95% of television and movies are fake too, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them." I usually say similar It annoys me how wrestling gets criticised for been "fake" when shows like House and Lost don't. If anything wrestlings more 'real' than those because wrestlers actually put themselves at risk of injuries to perform in the ring. I've actually made a comeback at someone with something like that. "Wrestling's fake?! Oh my god. Next thing you're gonna tell me is that Dr. House isn't a real doctor and he's actually British...."

But if all that actually comes in to buy hip hop albums is uneducated gangbanging types to buy stuff from that Best Buy and that guy...then that isn't stereotyping, it's that guy stating the type of people who come in and buy that stuff from him...like the white trash that buy WWE/UFC stuff.

I think that's irrelevant, tbh. I don't give a damn who usually buys the things I'm buying from him. He is being paid to perform a service. That service is to take the DVD, scan it, tell me the price, accept my money, give me my change, and then thank me for shopping at his establishment and tell me to have a nice day. If his opinion about the people who enjoy what I enjoy might be in any way derogatory, controversial, or might insult me in any way, it is part of his duty as a service provider to keep his thoughts to himself. Customers do not patronize an establishment that openly mocks and derides its customers by using racial and socioeconomic slurs against them for the heinous sin of buying their products. That is basic common sense that shouldn't even have to rise to the level of being called business acumen, but if it must, let's call it that instead. If the young man likes his job and would like to keep it, he should refrain from generalizing his customers as "white trash" in the future. There are many other terms he could also consider avoiding; I'm sure it isn't difficult to imagine what they might be.

I can see where this part would come off as offensive: He didn't officially call him white trash, but was insinuating it. Even if he wasn't, the 'fake stuff' comment was unnecessary, considering most people know it's fake. I'm not disagreeing with you (as I see where you're coming from), but can see where it'd be offensive.

Or did I miss something? People are morons. But I really think the fact that some of you feel like you need to defend yourself so much for liking wrestling comes off as desperation. If you get offended by someone stereotyping you for liking wrestling...then maybe you either need to grow some thicker skin, or realize that stereotypes have to be based of something in order to be come one and just not let it bother you to the point that you have to defend yourself or make excuses about liking wrestling in the first place. And even though the employee shouldn't have said that, I don't find it any less of a douchebag thing to say calling the guy a loser virgin as a come back.

If anything wrestlings more 'real' than those because wrestlers actually put themselves at risk of injuries to perform in the ring. I never really got this line of thinking. The difference between the two is that no fan of Lost really thought there was a guy named Jack Sheppard on a mysterious island. They fully knew it was a fictional TV show. Sadly, there are a large number of adult wrestling fans who either lose themselves so much in the show or may actually consider it real that this stereotype does have a basis.

There's a lot of "you"s in your post, and I'm raising my eyebrow a bit. I don't think it's desperate in the least, to criticize someone's usage of racial slurs against customers in their store. Maybe you're right, and I just need to grow a thicker skin. But I tend to think I'm right, that the employee needs to learn how to behave in polite society. The world could do with a bit more civility.

I pretty much acted like the guy ruined my life by telling me that. I acted real depressed etc. Funny shit looking back on it.
