I do agree with them that Netflix should have closed captioning, but I do not agree with them suing Netflix. That's a tad harsh.

I have to say that is a pretty bizarre oversight on Netflix's part.

There is CC on some things. I know Netflix has had it on some TV shows for at least a year.

While I'm 100% in support of everything with sound having captions, there's no way this has ANY legal basis.

Yeah, while this argument might work if it was a general TV station or something, there's just no way it can hold up when you have to pay just for that service. It sucks for those people who are deaf but Netflix shouldn't be sued over something they knowingly pay for.

Pathetic. Everyone wants to sue for something. Its just another special interest group getting their name out there.
Netflix should have closed captioning but this is highly unnecessary.

Netflix is not wheelchair accessible also. Where are the ramps?

If only I could get them to do same for WWE dvd/blu-ray? I support the lawsuit for my personal reason.

But back on topic I never even knew that close captions were an option on the actual dvd's themselves. I always thought it was an option on one's DVD player. I rented One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and it came up with subtitles automatically.

Not quite as bad as the people in wheelchairs who sued Chipotle because they couldn't see their food being made and thus lost out on the Chipotle Experience. (They won)

Everything discriminates against something else. Next you'll hear blind advocacy groups suing since there's no braille version of Netflix.
Hell, I have friends who would've loved to play Guitar Hero, but cant' because they have a disease that won't allow them to hold the controller. And forget about Kinect, they're in wheelchairs... how are they expected to jump?
But, rather than sue, they just realize it's not for them. Same for while I'd love to make the money of a star NFL player... I'm five foot nothing with an aversion to muscle building. Should I sue the NFL for not allowing me to play on their team because they are discriminating against a certain body type? How about suing a scientific research facility for not hiring me just because I suck at science and don't have a degree?
Not everything is available for everyone... and in this case, Netflix IS offering subtitles and captions as much as they can. It isn't perfected yet, and it takes time to make it available for everything.
People's entitled attitudes and "I want it now or it isn't good enough" combined with "I got it now and it's still not good enough" attitudes just piss me the f*** off.

Netflix do, as has been stated, have closed captioning on select programmes, but I assume that their main focus is updating their catalogue and not catering to the 2% of people who are deaf and want to watch a movie. How, in the world, is this a lawsuit? What an incredible misplaced sense of entitlement. I hope they are laughed out of court (though, of course, they'd never know).
