I never understood the hate for this movie from people and critics (which gave it a low Rotten Tomatoes score). I personally enjoyed it and thought Jim Carrey and the supporting characters made it great. Morgan Freeman was great as god and Steve Carell steals the show every scene he has. Plus, this was the first time I felt Jennifer Aniston was tolerable in a movie as I'm not a fan of her at all. The only thing that I could say was bad was the sappiness near the end (mainly the montage), so why the hate?
EDIT: I should really be specific as it has a 49 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a 40-something on metacritic, which is very low.

I thought people liked it.
I've never heard anyone slag it off when I've mentioned it.

I've never heard anyone hate on Bruce Almighty.
If anything, the only reason to hate it is its existence is the reason for Evan Almighty, and that is an unforgivable crime.

Yeah, I've never heard anyone hate on Bruce Almighty either.
Evan Almighty, on the other hand deserves the hate it gets.

Hate? For "Bruce Almighty"? That's unheard of, as people I know love that movie.

I'll agree with the consensus that I didn't even realize there was hate.
I really enjoyed it.

I don't know if I want to know someone that hates Bruce Almighty. It just seems like such a random, harmless, movie to hate on.
Anyone who hates it must have, at one point in time, had a monkey ejected from their anus.

I still think that this is the last great comedy movie that Jim Carrey has starred in. "Yes Man" wasn't very good, and I don't see "Mr. Popper's Penguins" (Which I keep thinking it's called "Mr. Pooper's Penguins" for some reason) being good either, but it's getting very mixed reviews.

I haven't heard any hate for the film, either. I myself quite enjoyed it.
Evan Almighty, on the other hand, is a burning pile of garbage!

I never even knew people hated Evan Almighty until this thread. I thought it was alright I guess.

I remember that I wasn't offended by its awfulness or anything, I didn't run out of the theater screaming for Jim Carrey's head on a platter...but I think I had forgotten most of what happened by the time I arrived back home.
Just a pretty "there" movie.

It was a pretty good movie, and Evan Almighty was alright, but while Morgan Freeman is excellent as God, I didn't really get into the rest of the movie all that much.
That said, I do often quote one of the deleted scenes when describing rising to the occasion after being faced with hardship: "If you want pictures like these, you'll need to use some dark colors."

I loved Bruce Almighty and haven't talked to anybody that's hated it. Like every Jim Carrey film, if you take him out of it, the quality drops drastically. It's why sequels of his movies, without him in them, are widely regarded as some of the worst movies ever.

I liked it, sure it got pretty heavy handed towards the end, but it was still a funny movie.

I liked Bruce Almighty a lot. Carey was great, as was Steve Carrel, and Morgran Freeman is basically perfect as God. I thought even when it turned serious it was still very good.

Because it wasn't about Bruce Campbell, so the name of the movie is misleading.

It could be that Evan Almighty was just so terrible that it's hatred overflowed onto it's predecessor... which has been known to happen.
