Is Evan Almighty really that bad? I see it showing on TV every now and then and never decided to watch it. Maybe I should.

I didn't really hate Evan Almighty. It wasn't anywhere near as good but I'm too much of a Steve Carrel mark to hate it completely.

Is Evan Almighty really that bad? I see it showing on TV every now and then and never decided to watch it. Maybe I should. It's not that it's bad so much as that it's lesser than the sum of its parts. It's Steven Carrell, John Goodman, Morgan Freeman, and Lauren Graham. I expected a little more than a "nothing you haven't seen before" family movie.

It could be that Evan Almighty was just so terrible that it's hatred overflowed onto it's predecessor... which has been known to happen. No, seriously, can someone elaborate on Evan Almighty and its apparent wide spread terribleness? I sincerely enjoyed that movie. It wasn't amazing by any stretch but it wasn't bad either.

Huh? I loved Bruce Almighty! Add me to the list of people who didn't even know there was hate.

I think the reaction to the film (and subsequent RT rating) are more or less spot on. A comedy with it's moments, but if I was going to the cinema, or renting a new release, BA was one of my choices, depending on my other choices, I could do much better. Also, however, depending on my choices, I could do a lot worse. It's just an average movie. Not bad, but not really great, IMO.

I didn't really care for it, but there's nothing much to complain about. Just not my cup of tea and even then it has its moments.

Bruce Almighty is funny. Evan Almighty just isnt. The Jon Stewart cameo is funny and there are one or 2 other funny bits, but the film is just unfunny.

I loved Bruce Almighty. I thought Evan Almighty was...ok...I guess, but I didn't understand why they thought they could build an entire movie around the Evan character who wasn't really all that interesting in the first film, IMO.

Don't hate it, just thought it was a downright, bad, unfunny comedy.
