Also I really like the Harvey Bullock character; can't recall him coming along till the Animated either. Same with Montoya, who of course became the Question.

Wasn't there some sorta Joel Schumacher cameo/slam in one episode? Also just remembered the Adam West/Gray Ghost ep. That was a great one as well. Yeah, Volume 4 features "Legends of the Dark Knight" which is a group of kids telling stories about Batman (one based on the Dick Sprang era, one based on Frank Miller). Those kids briefly pass another kid, named Joel, wearing a feathered boa, talking about how he likes Batman's "skintight vinyl and car that can go up the side of a building" or something like that. I don't remember the exact quote. Anyway, the main kids basically just go "Whatever, Joel" before continuing their stories. EDIT: Damn, beaten to it. And beaten to saying "Beaten to it" too.

Probably in the extreme minority, but Batman: Brave and the Bold is my favorite Batman animated series.

For me, the high water marks for B:TAS were consistently the Clayface episodes. Oh, I LOVED that character and the pathos. Great stuff, great series.
Damn, I gotta get the DVDs.

Probably in the extreme minority, but Batman: Brave and the Bold is my favorite Batman animated series. it is lots of fun and i do love it but they are Night and Day of each other, i enjoy Batman TAS because it took the mythos so seriously and i enjoy TB&TB because its flat out fun

For me, the two stars of the show were Kevin Conroy and Paul Dini. TAS is my definitive version of Batman, even more than the grim and SRS version from post 80s in the comics.
And that intro has to be the greatest animation intro since..well, Duck Tales Dammit!!

Pretty sure Bullock was already in the comics, but not widely used. Yeah, he was created in the 70's and was originally a crooked cop out to sabotage Gordon's career. Eventually, he changed after Gordon had a heart attack. Montoya was created for the cartoon.

Excellent series, from the first one with the Man-Bat past all the fun Joker ones to epic greatness with Mr Freeze, Two-Face & Clayface origin or simple Batman vs gangster episodes.
If there is one minor irritation it's that they never really captured the Scarecrow terribly well.

The damn Tony Zucco two-parter where Robin wants to take out the guy who killed his family and tells Batman, who's trying to stop him, that he doesn't understand, that he doesn't know what it's like... That moment afterwords when Robin realizes what he says is just incredible. Bruce's reaction is just dead on.

He is awesome there.

And they made Scarecrow himself look pretty damn creepy, and Jeffrey Combs did a good job voicing him.

What I've seen of Brave and the Bold has been a really fun show; and for that take on the character is great, it just doesn't seem ( and again I haven't seen much of it) to have the depth that so many eps. of TAS did.
Yeah I wasn't a hundred percent clear on if/when Bullock came along before the show or not. But my point about him being an interesting character as a result I stand behind.
Though that one episode where he and Croc were tied together, while good, was comical given how Croc somehow impersonated him.

Absolutely great show! To me, seasons 1-3 are the way Batman SHOULD ALWAYS be. By season 4, he was starting to show shades of todays know-it-all asshole Frank Miller DKR Wanna-be Batman whom I despise whenever he's portrayed that way. It's a bummer that I don't like season 4 as much, because Tim Drake was an awesome character and a perfect little kid Robin (Dick Grayson was of course the perfect older teen Robin).
Here's a quick list of my favorite episodes...I don't know all the names, so I'm just going to give a brief synopsis:
Grey Ghost: Guest starring Adam West as a has-been actor forever type casted in a single part. Perfectly mirrors West's own real life history and is truly an emotional episode.
Werewolf: Don't know why I love this one so much. Batman fights a guy who's been turned into a werewolf. It's just a one off episode, but I really liked the idea of this guy taking a special serum that has such awful side effects.
Night of the Ninja: Batman actually has to fight someone who's much better at fighting than he is. Robin gets a great chance to shine as he isn't afraid of the Ninja like Batman is (at the beginning) and actually whoops the Ninja's ass for a little bit. We also get to see Bruce's early years of studying in Japan (which I prefer much more than the Nolan movie's "Kill Bill" like training)
Day of the Samurai: Batman fights the Ninja again, but this time the Ninja has learned an ultimate death attack. Once more we get to see glimpses into Batman's training in hand to hand combat and even get to know his old master a little better.
Almost Got 'Em: The episode with "It was a big rock..." Great to see the villains just talking and telling stories to each other as well as the twist ending.
