This is not a slam, I know they work hard in what can be terrible conditions. But it was more of an observation. So yesterday I was at KFC with two friends and we sat outside for a while so my buddy could smoke and we counted no less than 9 employees outside taking a break or leaving. One guy actually came up to us and said "Hey you guys got a lighter I can borrow, we're wanting to smoke a bowl". Then we proceeded to watch as huge billows or smoke came out of their car windows. Anyway my question is are all employees supposed to take breaks together during slow periods? Was it a shift change? We saw no one besides customers go in. And most importantly of all, who was manning the store? Also they swapped our food, but we noticed to late and couldn't switch back. The funny thing is this KFC is in a general nice area but they're doing all this stuff in the front parking lot where all the customers go. So we hear all about terrible customers, how about some stories about terrible service or general strangeness.

Yeah, during slow periods, it's not uncommon for a lot of guys to take breaks, but this sounds like especially bad management. Either no one has an eye at them, or they suck at it.

If there were 9 there at once, it was probably a shift change. Also, after the lunch rush you usually see a bunch of the staff leave as they have a smaller crew during slow periods, at least in my experiences working there.

You care people took their breaks together because? Just struck them as odd, I think, if it left no one at the register or fryer. That said, it probably was a shift change or slow period.

You care people took their breaks together because? Of course not, it was just strange that so many people were out there, since it seemed like it was everyone we saw working inside just a few minutes earlier were now outside getting high in the most high traffic area of their lot. Does that not seem a bit strange to you? I didn't get mad or anything, especially since my friends are all stoners, but even they thought it was a bit weird.

I had a manager when I worked in a burger joint who dealt drugs in the parking lot, and probably had hook ups in the bathroom with a lot of his customers. I didn't exactly investigate the issue further, but I was aware of it.

I mainly do sales, but half my day is a branch manager for a warehouse that also does sales. When I go into a lot of stores I think he customer service is abyssmal. Most people act like you are inconvenencing them by asking them to do their job. I think a lot of it has to do with the pay and the workplace satisfaction. Granted my job is easier, the people who work the counters make $18 an hour and the warehouse techs make about the same, so they seem more driven by the fact they're making a living wage. It has to be tough to motivate employees making $7 an hour.
