it's like DC saw their sales for "Superman: Earth-One" and decided to Twilight up their entire line.
I want to give it a chance but am seriously peeved right now

I think with this news we need a new topic thread (which I'll start).

I'm a huge superhero nerd, but this kind of thing is why I restrict myself to their adaptations besides one-off stories.

I think with this news we need a new topic thread (which I'll start). So you're going to throw out all of the history and continuity in this thread for a relaunch? that' so crazy that it just might work......

I seriously can't stand mainstream comics because of crap like this.
No change, no evolution, and even if there is the next author'll just hit the reset button.

Welp, DC can officially f*** off. I'll keep buying Secret Six for as long as they keep making it, but otherwise, I'm done. Make mine Marvel.

*cough* Been there, done that *cough* Well, at least that wasn't a full reboot. It was a brand new continuity that kept the current one intact. It gave the reader an option.

Just... just...
There aren't enough facepalms in the world. I'm still telling myself this is a short-term gimmick but really? REALLY??!!!
Just what does it accomplish? It supposedly to draw in new readers, but how are you going to reach these new readers? The films didn't, the avalanche of tv series didn't. And the decline in comics sales couldn't possibly because of snowballing prices, the huge decline of the direct sales market (I can only get single issues in dedicated stores and they're not exactly common over here, I had to go 3 years without when my local store shut down) and the greater emphasis on tpbs which DC has helped build through theirs and marvels obsession with several issue long arcs.
No, it MUST be because of the history, the history that ANYONE WITH ACCESS TO WIKIPEDIA CAN WORK OUT. Yes it undoubtably puts some readers off, but i seriously doubt there are enough to justify yet another reboot.
Just... just why?

As an example, this year, my girlfriend got into Power Girl in a big way. Power Girl is, by DC standards, a fairly complex character, continuity-wise, but she basically had the entire history worked out after one trip to wikipedia. It's just not that freaking difficult, DC.

It's just not that freaking difficult, DC. And heres the thing, the Power Girl series was fantastic. Great characterisation, cool plotpoints and a thoroughly enjoyable read. That is what comics need, not yet another attempt to reboot, but more awesome series that focus on the character and creating an interesting narrative. And I mean really, who apart from comic book readers/geeks such as ourselves are even going to hear about this/care? How does a reboot reach this mythical larger audience they've been chasing the last few years?

Definitely been there, done that. It failed. Wasn't Jim Lee involved with this concept too? Does the guy just hate continuity?

Honestly, restarting all the issues at 1 just reeks of "Hey, remember the 90's when we restarted everything because everyone was collecting? Let's do that again!" to me.
And reboots... I mean, there is a group of people that are daunted by decades of continuity, sure, but reboots only ever seem to piss fans off. It's worked once, then stunk after that.

This means Cassandra Cain will never get to be in another comic again, doesn't it? Why must DC do these things? The run on Batman in the 90's produced some really good series from Knightfall to No Man's Land, why must they play silly buggers?

Since the other topic was locked:
Heroes Reborn may have failed from a creative standpoint, but not from a sales one. It did exactly what Marvel wanted it to do and set the stage for Heroes Return, which did produce some good stories.
As for DC, I don't think they'll change much in their more popular books other than the new numbering. Right now I currently only read one DC title, which means I may actually pick up a few more books of theirs depending on who's getting a title and what creators are working on it.

More details are trickling through that indicate everyone gets a new costume, some characters will get a fully new origin, some will only get tweaks and many people are being 'reset' (Jim Corrigan as the Spectre, the New Gods return as examples).
This seems great if you liked your original guys, but any Flash not named Barry, any GL not named Hal and potentially any Robin not named Dick better get worried.......

Since the other thread was closed, I'll repost this here -
Wait, DC publishes Action Comics, a comic book thats been running since 1938 and could easily reach a legitimate 1000 mark within a few years... AND THEY WANT TO RELAUNCH IT BACK TO ISSUE 1?!?! Whoever made that decision deserves the grand and glorious title of "Dumbass of Dumbasses" bestowed upon them, complete with it written on their tombstone after their death.
I might actually be behind this idea if I thought DC was actually gonna use it as a chance to move forward and tell new stories with their characters... all of their characters from their near 75 years of existence, including the one's from the 90's that have fan following that the current editorial team likes to ignore. Unfortunetaly I think we all know DC will just use this as another way to restore the status quo from 1978 or whenever Geoff Johns started reading comics and characters like Kyle Rayner and Cass Cain will never be seen or referenced again.
