All I know is, if this f***s with the Secret Six or Birds of Prey, I'm gonna be pissed. I didn't jump on the Gail Simone bandwagon all that long ago, and I'm not gonna let the company's recent, bizarre Silver Age obsession screw up a good ride.

I take it from that image that Wonder Woman is on a crusade against phallic monuments and buildings?
Washington Monument and Eiffel Tower, watch out.

Oh, yay! Another crossover event that has no real consequences other than emptying gullible readers' pockets!

Oh, yay! Another crossover event that has no real consequences other than emptying gullible readers' pockets! Don't read it. I won't be. I learned long ago that these stupid stunts are just that - stunts to boost sales because it's easier than making money by telling good stories. I'm sorry, but how can long-time readers not be put off by this stuff? Ever since Infinite Crisis, DC has been pumping out event after event after event. These things used to be few and far between, so that they were actually special. Now when one major crossover ends, they instantly have another one ready to go. That goes for DC and Marvel. It's just such an obvious scam. They know it boots sales, and it's easy as hell.

Thing is, I have no plans to read Flashpoint, BUT, I'm sure it'll manage to leech it's way into the books that I DO read, and completely derail the story that those writers are trying to tell. It's annoying to get roped into a storyline you have no interest in, just because DC's pushing it that hard.

No? They're completely different cartoons in completely different continuities. That's not the same thing as slamming down your fist on the reset button and saying "THIS is how things work from now on!" Its still a new status quo thats being created by restarting characters and worlds that are still basically the same idea as whats popularly known, but with a shiny new coating. Thats all reboots typically do, which is what comics and the cartoons are doing. If anything cartoons are worst, since Batman continuity hasn't been officially thrown out since the 80's, but we've had BTAS, TB, and BatB since then. Ignoring the even older shows they're restarted Batman's continuity at least twice in the past ten years.

This is not a restart of the entire universe.
This is like a DC version of Age Of Apocalypse. It has a finite number of issues, and a definitive ending in August.
However, DC is being very guarded about their September books, and there are several rumors surrounding them. On is that the DC Universe will restart with iconic versions of the characters, but without the 70 or so years of backstory.
Personally, I'd love it so long as drastic changes weren't made for shock value. I mean, who is still reading comics today that was reading them 40 years ago, let alone 70? It's time for a fresh start.

Once the current GLs stay intact, I won't have a problem. John can go though.

I love all the different lanterns too, and if they do restart the universe, I hope this is a concept that they keep. Only this time, they could have all been around for a while when Hal becomes a GL, instead of having to basically redo the last 5 years of storylines.

Y'know, I know I'm going to get slammed for towing company lines and such, but Marvel, even with the ocassional continuity gaffes, hasn't had to resort to this over and over. Nothing in DC has made sense since Zero Hour.

Nothing in DC has made sense since Zero Hour. With either company, you can be pretty sure that if a major event happens, it will be undone and forgotten about shortly in some way. With Marvel, it just ends up being Magneto's, Norman Osborne, or the Skrull's fault. For every major event, maybe 1 in 15 or so might actually have a significant impact five years later.
