That's totally different. That was a series where the premise is asking What If something was different. It didnt replace or invalidate anyone or anthing. Just showed a possibility. Similarly, The Ultimate universe showed how a more modern take on characters would work, but beyond the movieverse, didnt change or invalidate anything.

Considering that those were one-offs, not lame duck issues leading to a giant reboot, I doubt it. The situations aren't comparable at all.

I used to love DC in the late 90's/early 2000's. Batgirl, JSA, Starman, Chase, Chronus, Young Justice, Hourman, Orion, Peter David's Supergirl, etc. These were just amazing books, and imaginative too. It felt like DC was genuinely doing new and different stuff with their properties. God, what happened to that company?

Considering that those were one-offs, not lame duck issues leading to a giant reboot, I doubt it. The situations aren't comparable at all. They're all stories. The point of a story is to entertain, not fit into a bigger picture. The argument that people shouldn't read a title because its "not going to matter" is stupid.

What If comics were just for fun and didn't really have a bearing on the actual continuity, not unlike what DC's up to now.

So, wait, if what I'm hearing is right about the new Batman, what happens to all those Robins and Batgirls Bruce was training or adopting all those years in the original continuity, not to mention the wretched hive of scum and villainy who are a superstitious and cowardly lot?

Did they debut before 1980? If not, then, well I think you have your answer.

The new Justice League. Going by eyesight, it looks like Mon-El, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Batman, The Flash (Wally, I think), and Hal Jordan

Well it's not an exact date, but the 80's were around the point where DC started moving away from the Silver Age status quo. That status quo seems to be the status quo that DC's current writers and editorial favor and have been doing everything they can over the last 10 years to reinstate.

I doubt they will go all the way back to the 80's. I mean, how will they be able to mary sue the hell out of Harley Quinn when she's stuck in 1992?
