Well it's not an exact date, but the 80's were around the point where DC started moving away from the Silver Age status quo. That status quo seems to be the status quo that DC's current writers and editorial favor and have been doing everything they can over the last 10 years to reinstate. I doubt they will go all the way back to the 80's. I mean, how will they be able to mary sue the hell out of Harley Quinn when she's stuck in 1992? I'm sure there will be a few exceptions that will get shoehorned into the new universe - Harley Quinn, Jaime Reyes, Booster Gold, etc. But there have been many many new characters introduced in the last 25 years that have devoted fanbases that have either been marginalized or ignored over the last decade that I imagine will have absolutely no place in the DCU after this reboot. I seriously doubt characters like Cass Cain, Connor Hawke or Linda Danvers will ever be seen or mentioned again.

Green Lantern has a Gatling gun in that photo.
Subtle, DC. I never knew he ever did that anywhere before, and after the movie trailer got released, that's all I've ever seen him do.

When the hell did Cyborg become important? Somebody from DC watched the Teen Titans cartoon and said "hey, it's that guy from the last season of Superfriends, we should do something with him".

FLASHPOINT to restart the entire DC Universe....for a month or two until the stuff retcon'd out is retcon'd back in. That's how Marvel works, not DC. When DC introduce an extreme idea like this that's met with incredible resistance by the fans, they push harder. DC devotes more time and resources to it, put great writers behind it, and do everything they can to get fans to accept and appreciate the changes in the long run and consider them of paramount importance to the product they are following, no matter how many years it takes... then they retcon it back.

So, looking back at the new League of Justice, if Wonder Woman, as I read a few pages back, is a villain along with Aquaman, who are the WW and Aquaman in the new League?

*gently massages his temples*
I'm trying not to panic until I see where they are going with this. I'm behind on my Flash and Flashpoint because the release order has been so messed up, so I'll be giving my opinions on that another time.
Not knowing what the deal is, I'm going to hold my tongue for a bit. I will agree that restarting both Action Comics and Detective Comics, both legit runs since 1939, at #1 for this is beyond stupid. Moreover, they JUST got Adventure Comics and Wonder Woman back on classic numbering and they're going to start over?
Just... weird.

Having slept on it I'm still worried and annoyed as hell and have one point to make before I go to work.
If this means Damian Wayne is retconned out of being Robin/out of existence, I'm done. I can deal with a lot of things but he's too incredible to be written out dammit! <shuffles nervously>

See honestly that wouldn't bother me a bit; I've never liked the idea of BatDad outside of the guy who fought Randy Marsh on South Park.
I was perfectly comfortable with Son of the Demon being a non-canon story before they brought Damien into DC proper.

The new Justice League. Going by eyesight, it looks like Mon-El, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Batman, The Flash (Wally, I think), and Hal Jordan That isn't Mon El or Wally. It is de-aged Barry and new look Superman, also younger. The point of this event is to shave about ten years off everyone so that everyone is more 'modern and approachablke to a younger generation.' And the whole Wonder Woman/Aquaman war is alt. universe stuff. It 'doesn't count' even in a story designed to render the past thirty odd years countless.

I like Cyborg, but boy that picture is a real " One of these things is not like the other" situation as far as 'main eventers' go. It's like "here's six iconic characters, and Cyborg."
Edit: Maybe it's because he was on Smallville? Though Green Arrow ain't there, so that's probably not it.

I like Cyborg, but yeah, they probably should have put SOMEONE else around his tier in there so he wasn't the odd one out. The cynic in me thinks they might have tossed him in for quota reasons, but if that was the aim, then you'd think Jaime Reyes as Blue Beetle would have made the cut, too.

I was perfectly comfortable with Son of the Demon being a non-canon story before they brought Damien into DC proper. I can understand that, I was apprehensive as well. But with the way he's been written in Batman & Robin and in Batgirl, he's immediately become one of my favourite characters and I will be incredibly frustrated if all the time and effort thats been invested in building his character and narrative has been for naught. And yes Cyborg does seem really out of place. They have been pushing him for a while into the Justice League though... perhaps as a part of this 'younger generation' thing they've put him in to appeal to fans of the Teen Titans series? Eh, I don't know, its all ridiculous.

I figure they saw what Avengers did for Luke Cage and thought, 'We need a lower level black powerhouse...STAT!"
