Four rumoured movies that are missed opportunities:
A Metroid movie produced/directed by John Woo.
A Legend of Zelda movie - one I'd kill for!
The Crow: 2037 directed by Rob Zombie. The premise was a lot better than any of the sequels.
A final TNG-era Star Trek film that heavily involved the Enterprise-E, Voyager and Deep Space 9.

While Bad Boys II was actually made, I remember reading rumors in 2001 (When it was in development) that the movie was supposed to take place outside the US and have a subtitle which was "Bad Around The World." I also think that Hype Williams was originally going to direct the movie, but Michael Bay ended up directing it. I'm not sure if the climax in Cuba was supposed to be when it meant "Around The World."

I remember when Kill Bill was in development, Jason Biggs was going to be in the cast, but he ended up not being in the cast. I wonder who he was supposed to play.

Robert Zemeckis was going to do a computer generated remake of Yellow Submarine, but I think they stopped production sometime last year.
I remember before Gigli came out there was talk of Ben Affleck & J-Lo starring in a remake of Casablanca.

I had heard for the longest time that there was an international version of Independence Day featuring extended destruction scenes, including the destruction by alien zappy thingy of the Eiffel Tower and the consumption of Paris in a fireball, as well as scenes in Tokyo and Seoul, plus destruction of the US scenes that had been cut from the American version.
I held onto this belief all the way until I got the DVD and realized the extended scenes weren't stuff blowing up.
But in hindsight it's a stupid thought; why would they film expensive models blowing up and then cut that out of their biggest market?

That according to the director, writers, and producers of X3 the last battle in the film was supposed to top Braveheart and The Two Towers.

I just started watching Red Dwarf for the first time, and I concur. They didn't make it because people that don't watch it would not get it. They are making more episodes though....supposedly. If they do ever make a film, I hope it's made in England where they actually get the show. Hollywood would just ruin it.

Robert Zemeckis was going to do a computer generated remake of Yellow Submarine, but I think they stopped production sometime last year. I believe that was scuttled after Mars Needs Moms tanked and Disney shut down the studio that did that style of film. Which didn't stop the Tintin movie from having that awful, dead-eyed nonsense.
