Ok, so, I know... the show is kinda retarded, but damnit I'm hooked on it. Pretty fun show if you ignore the fact that no scientific method is even remotely approached when theories are presented. Also.. this guy:

Also.. this guy: Two things: 1) I freaking LOVE that guy with his ridiculously receding hairline and orange skin that would make even Hogan blush. 2) Your sig is all kinds of wrong.

I do watch that show all the time. I love how they just come up with the most crazy shit they can think of and just roll with it.
See this random hieroglyphics ---> Atlantis was a giant UFO that left Earth a million years ago.
And yeah, having the most insane looking guy possible to talk about this stuff is brilliant.

Was he the guy who said that the Moon could be a space station like the Death Star was in Star Wars? Was that his only evidence, a movie?

I first tuned in the other night not knowing what it was, hearing them discuss ancient legends, and thus thought it was a myths and monsters show.
Within minutes they trot out Erich von Daniken and his ilk and I knew any sorta scientific basis, facts, skepticism, or really anything regarding rationality was right out the window.
It was disappointing. I thought I was going to be watching a show about myths and where those stories came from-- which I'm always interested in as I gotta confess, big Joseph Campbell fan, so even when I'm aware of their origins, it's fascinating; and to my chagrin was faced with this 'ancient aliens' ridiculousness.

I've watched an episode or two for a few laughs but it stopped being funny when I realized just how sincere they were with the baseless speculation and crackpot theories. I figured maybe a skeptic might show up then and there and derail the whole thing, but nope.
It's like if the Emperor's New Clothes ended with everyone he paraded around in front of being legitimately and honestly impressed with his garb at the end.

I assumed this was the type of show to piss me off, like any Ghost Hunting thing, and it sounds like I was right.
Every TV show about stuff like this, or ESPECIALLY cryptozoology, ends with them saying "we may never know for sure" or something to that extent, when there is an expert through the show saying ITS A f***ING MANATEE! A MANATEE! THAT'S IT! LOOK, HERE'S PROOF THAT IT IS A f***ING MANATEE!

I find these types of shows to be very irritating. There is something so patronizing and insulting in an approach that suggests, "These people came before us and therefore had to be stupid! It must have been aliens who did it with high-tech machines!" Why can't people recognize some of the truly awe-inspiring abilities of HUMAN engineers and their hard work from civilization to civilization?
Argh.

Yeah, basically according to these shows imagination and ingenuity didn't exist in antiquity. Or really ever if you've seen the shows in which we apparently got everything we use today from a UFO that crashed in Roswell

On a side note, this is the same deal with people who suggest the ancient greeks/romans/egyptians/chinese visited the americas and that's how the uncivilized indigenous people were able to build pyramids.

I could see it actually as a reason why civilizations so far away from each other would have similar architecture w/ pyramids, and such. Maybe not so much ancient aliens/travels taught them how, but influences.

On the how the pyramids were built, to quote Red Dwarf, "They had massive whips, Rimmer. Massive, massive whips."
