I am infuriated that we're not getting Haas & Benjamin down here on the Richmond show.

Even more so that the main event contains my 3 least favorite ROH guys. (Roderick & The Briscoes.)

And even more so that Roderick Strong still has the damn title!

Figured this would be the best place to ask...

Whatever happened to that Samson guy who always wrestled on the pre-show awhile back?
I heard he was hilarious every single time he was out there, and definitely wanted to see him get a shot on the main card, based on what I'd heard about the guy.

Richmond results...

Roderick Strong out to begin. Calls Daniels the weak link in the main event. Daniels is out to refute Strong...and the first match of the year for ROH is:

1. ROH World TV Champion Christopher Daniels over ROH World Champion Roderick Strong via roll-up.
~Kings were out mid-match to stop them from fighting. Daniels ended up forcing them out and got the win.

2. Tag Team Challenge Match
Andy "Right Leg" Ridge & Grizzly Redwood over The Bravado Brothers of Harlem & Lance when Ridge pinned Lance after a superkick. All 4 shook hands post match.

3. Challenge Match
"The Prodigy" Mike Bennett w/ Brutal Bob over Adam Cole following a Bucklebomb and a Half-Nelson Slam in a good match.

Announcer is reminding fans that the winners of the main event will split an "enormous" cash prize.

Return Date: July 8, 2011

~Kings of Wrestling hit the ring. State that 2 of the 'All-Stars' need to fight to "make it even." Generico and Davey come out. Davey says it is stupid and that he'll kick the crap out of KOW later. KOW attack them and talk about evening the odds "another way." Briscoes hit the ring to make the save.

4. Grudge Match
"The Notorious 187" Homicide over "Addicted to Love" Rhett Titus via Brainbuster
~Rhett bled after a headbutt, following a barrage of slaps and strikes.

~Steve Corino out after intermission.

He says he's been wrong for the last 17 years and he, not El Generico, is responsible for Kevin Steen being gone from ROH. He drove Steen crazy.

Now, in 2011, he's going to turn over a new leaf and not let what happened to Steen ever happen to anyone else under his watch. Says, "My name is Steve Corino and I'm an evil person...but I'm going to change that."

Calls out Caleb Konley and offers to help him on right path.

5. Challenge Match
Steve Corino over Caleb Konley in a good, competitive match.

6. Challenge Match
Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana over Caprice Coleman a hilarious, back and forth match with good sportsmanship. Please Come Back chants for Coleman.

7. Challenge Match
"Pretty Boy Pitbull" Kenny King over Kyle O'Reilly in a great match. End was a King reversal of an O'Reilly submission attempt and hitting high angle suplex.

8. Champions vs. All-Stars Eight Man Tag Team Match
Davey Richards, El Generico and Jay & Mark Briscoe over ROH World Champion Roderick Strong w/ Truth Martini, ROH World Television Champion "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and ROH World Tag Team Champions The Kings of Wrestling: "That Young Knock Out Kid" Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli w/ Shane Hagadorn when Mark Briscoe pinned Christopher Daniels after a top rope elbow in a 40+ minute match that was really, really good.

And now, a little insight from someone who was front row RIGHT THERE IN RICHMOND, VIRGINIA!!!![/cheap pop]


The Set annoys me. That's it. I especially don't like that they get the reaction they do just because they're local. (They were in one of the dark matches.)

This show had a lot of new talent I never heard of, so I went in apprehensive...and thankfully, they won me over. (Even if half of them look like Brian Kendrick, for some reason.)

Grizzly Redwood was over like mad. Possibly best reaction of the night. Andy Ridge doesn't suck either, even if the gimmick is a little silly. Bravados are kind of generic, but they're alright. (They look like girls, though. )

Mike Bennett (Who was alone, for the record. No "Brutal Bob" in sight, so those results are wrong.) is a bit annoying. He's got the typical arrogant pandering down, but he does it too much. He needs to learn when to just shut up and wrestle.

Adam Cole won me over. Pretty good kid. Clearly still a rookie, but he put on a pretty good match.

HepaTitus did indeed get f***ed up, and it was glorious. Sad there wasn't a Cop Killer, but Homicide still put on a damn good match. Wouldn't be disappointed to see him win the belt again. (Then again, I'd be happy if Bobby Dempsey won it. ANYONE BUT RODERICK.)

Corino's face turn promo was great, and he stuck to it in the match. He was tempted to break the rules a few times and didn't. Caleb Konley wasn't great, but he wasn't horrible either.

Colt Cabana was awesome as usual. Lots of playing around with the crowd, and a fun little bit with some kids at ringside.

Caprice Coleman was amazing. He earned that Please Come Back, trust me. Guy's great at comedy, and looked like he could do serious, too. Great in the ring, to boot.

I forgot how good Kenny King was. He started a bit slow tonight, but he put on a good match. Spent a good amount of it getting kicked around the ring, though. Kyle O'Reilly put on a very good performance in that match.

And the main event...pretty standard. They showed that Daniels was a face and his teammates were heels, Roddy's a pussy, Davey's awesome, Generico's awesome, Briscoes are still where they've been since the 5th tag title reign, KINGS REIGN SUPREME, you know the drill.

All in all, great show, and I can't wait until the July 8th return. I just feel sorry for them being down here, it was freezing in there.

Man ROH has a lot of guys I've never heard of! And I only stopped watching/following after about week 5 of the HDNet show.

i'm kind of sad about the lack of enthusiasm here for ROH. i remember when each show (not a weekend of show but a separate thread for the friday and saturday show) would get their own thread. now we're combining two months into one, and there's a good chance this won't even hit 30 pages.

I was at the show in Richmond too.

It was a heck of a lot of fun.

Highlights for me was Colt's interactions with the fans (kids were begging him to just wrestle and stop being goofy so Colt then took an amateur wrestling stance with Coleman and then yelled at the kids when he failed.)

Kenny King also had some amusing fan interactions as these kids behind me must not have known the names of either him or O'Reilley because they were cheering for someone completely different and King shouted at them saying "WHO ARE YOU CHEERING FOR? THAT'S NOT HIS NAME!"

Main event was good but the crowd was obviously tired at that point and wasn't nearly as hot as at the beginning of the show.

And Mark Briscoes sweaty hand band landed right in front of me when he threw it off. Time stood still for a moment and then a swarm of kids came running for it. I then unstretched my leg in my pathetic effort to reel it in.

Was my first ROH show and liked it enough to recommend it to any who haven't gone to one yet. I liked every match on the card, especially the dark matches. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go back July 8th.

Sadly true. I know for me that the loss of A Double, Steen and, really any decent storylines has caused my interest in ROH to plummet. I know the wrestling will be great but, I like have a reason for it.
