i'm kind of sad about the lack of enthusiasm here for ROH. i remember when each show (not a weekend of show but a separate thread for the friday and saturday show) would get their own thread. now we're combining two months into one, and there's a good chance this won't even hit 30 pages. Sadly true. I know for me that the loss of A Double, Steen and, really any decent storylines has caused my interest in ROH to plummet. I know the wrestling will be great but, I like have a reason for it. i know what you mean. as fangirl as this is going to sound, once tyler left i lost like, 90% of my interest in ROH. i don't know what they can do to get it back up.

I definitely agree with this. A lot of those new guys are just too bland to draw people in. Kenny King also had some amusing fan interactions as these kids behind me must not have known the names of either him or O'Reilley because they were cheering for someone completely different and King shouted at them saying "WHO ARE YOU CHEERING FOR? THAT'S NOT HIS NAME!" Oh, man. That was hysterical. I think they were trying to cheer for O'Reilly. Either way, just further proves that Kenny King = Awesome.

how was attendance last night? It was a full house, but it's a pretty small building. I'll just go with "good enough to get us our (I believe) 8th return show".

Eh, I try to think ROH is just in a rebuilding stage (which is what parts of 2003-2004 felt like to me) before they get hot again. The amount of newer, younger talent doesn't bug me, because I remember when Alex Shelley, Austin Aries and McGuinness were wrestling "tryout" matches. Even Generico and Steen wrestled a few matches two years before they returned to ROH.
I'm optimistic.

The amount of newer, younger talent doesn't bug me, because I remember when Alex Shelley, Austin Aries and McGuinness were wrestling "tryout" matches. Even Generico and Steen wrestled a few matches two years before they returned to ROH. I'm optimistic. Yeah, they have the talent (Edwards, Cole, O' Reilly, Titus, King to name a few), just nothing that makes me care enough to keep up as much as before. Results: ROH Live Event - 1/15/11 - Charlotte, NC Attendance estimate as people still arrive: 300+ a. Caleb Konley over Orion Bishop via roll-up 1. Tag Team Re-Match The Bravado Brothers of Harlem & Lance over Kyle O'Reilly & Adam Cole via roll-up and holding of the tights on O'Reilly. 2. Challenge Match "Addicted to Love" Rhett Titus over Caprice Coleman after the Golden Rule 3. Challenge Match Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana over Grizzly Redwood via Billy Goat's Curse 4. Challenge Match "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett over Cedric Alexander ~Bennett remains at ringside for... 5. Ring of Honor World Television Title Match ROH World Television Champion "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels over Claudio Castagnoli w/ Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey in his 1st defense. During the match, Mike Bennett tried to get Claudio to use the belt on Daniels, but he tossed it back. Daniels won after the BME. ~July 9th return date. ~Attendance update: 450-500, looks to be a sellout. 6. Challenge Match Steve Corino v. Andy "Right Leg" Ridge ~Pre-match, Corino cuts another promo, much like the one from Richmond. Corino decides to change the match and team with Andy Ridge and brings out Alabama Attitude (Mike Posey & Corey Hollis) 6. Steve Corino & Andy "Right Leg" Ridge over Alabama Attitude of Mike Posey & Corey Hollis following Emerald Dream and a Superkick on Hollis 7. Challenge Match Davey Richards over "That Young Knock Out Kid" Chris Hero w/ Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey via a cross arm breaker, which was preceded by a shooting star press and kimura. Hero had loaded his Golden Elbow, but Sinclair caught him and removed the pad. MOTN so far. 8. Four Corner Survival Match El Generico over "Pretty Boy Pitbull" Kenny King, "The Notorious 187" Homicide and Mark Briscoe when he pinned King following a Brainbuster Suplex. Post-match, Homicide asked Generico for handshake and then hit him with a CopKilla!!! 9. Ring of Honor World Title Match ROH World Champion Roderick Strong over Jay Briscoe following a Suplex Backbreaker and Gibson Driver. Highlights included: ~Jay Briscoe gushing blood after Roddy smashes his head into the barricade multiple times on the outside. ~Jay's head is "a faucet of blood" and Roddy told him to "Man Up MFer!" ~Jay Briscoe with a Jay Driller through the ringside table!!! ~Post-match, Strong got on the mic and thanked Jay for the fight and "Manning Up"

Hell of a show. Briscoe/Strong was even better than I expected given how the result was never in doubt. For a moment there I even thought he could win.

Hell of a show. Briscoe/Strong was even better than I expected given how the result was never in doubt. For a moment there I even thought he could win. So it was kind of like the Nigel/Generico matches, especially the one that opened a Chicago show a few years back? Good deal. You know it's gonna be a long title reign when they bust out the Jay Briscoe challenge just a few months into it. Homicide/El Generico feud? Maybe Cide has heat with Generico for all that time in TNA when he and Hernandez were parading around with the Mexican flag despite being Puerto Rican. Guys like Generico really take their heritage seriously.

Roddy/Jay sounds like uber fun, and Generico taking the Cop Killa sounds awesome, because that man knows how to bump like a champion.

I was at the Charlotte show last night and here is the write up that I did...
Another great live ROH event. This was my second time in Charlotte, with Big Bang! being the first. While the April show had the big time ppv feeling, I personally felt like last night was the better booked show overall. The three big matches delivered and past expectations while the under card matches were short but served their purpose. I really enjoyed seeing younger talent and local wrestlers getting some exposure. Nothing really in the bad category this time around. Also unlike last year there was no shit lucha to put a damper on things.
really good turnout which surprised me since I ordered my ticket at the end of December and still got second row. I guess there was a huge walk up.
The opener was good way to kick off the show. I see a lot of promise in both teams. Cole and O'riley were really intense and I would love to see the Bravados further develop their southern gentlemen gimmick. I also enjoyed Lance (?) yelling to a heckler 'your now off the bandwagon!!!!'
Titus and Coleman was another good undercard match. I enjoyed Titus working the crowd beforehand and Caprice impressed me big time with AMAZING Mic work and an over all good work ethic. I would love to see him work full time in ROH. I could the lizard man playing up his ministry work, not in a religious gimmick sort of way, but maybe saying that a good portion of his winnings go to his church or some other charitable thing (so in other words a baby face actually acting like one)
I flippin loved Colt and the Grizz. Charlotte got into their antics like pig in stinkypoop. I agree with an earlier poster that I'd give it ***** on a comedy level. Also probably one of Redwoods best matches to date.
This was my first time seeing Bennett and I was really impressed. He has the look of a star and carries himself as such. He can also make his moves intense without being stiff. I've also seen his opponent Cedric Alexander wrestle three times in the past year and he has just been getting better and better. I told him this after the show and he seemed really touched.
I cannot say enough good things about the TV title match. Even though there are several great workers in the company I feel like Claudio and Daniels are maybe the only two that can put on a main event level match without having to do everything under the sun with a million moves per minute. They started with a simple pace doing some big man/little man spots and picked it up as time went on. The crowd really got into it and believed that Claudio could actually take home the belt with him. The crowd was so into it that they forgot that Bennett was at ringside the whole time so that actually made his involvement at the end better as opposed to taking away from the match. I actually don't believe that the BME at the end of the was a botch (or at least the planned finish) as there was enough to the match following that made me think otherwise. I won't argue though if anyone believes it was a messed up finish however, I just say get the DVD and decide for yourself. I did like though how there was a small "you f*** up' chant after the BME but was followed by a much larger 'THATS OKAY!' chant.
Corino was over like gangbusters with the crowd. He cut a great babyface promo. I'm really enjoying this redemption story and can't wait to see where it goes as there are several routes this could take. the tag match was decent and ridge looked good.
Davey vs. Hero was flogging epic!!! I haven't seen the PWG match so I can't compare but this was a great showing by two of the best in the company. Not a surprise but it was stiff and intense and had some nice submissions also. I also liked how they played up Davey's concussion. I figured Hero would have gone over injuring him with the loaded elbow but I guess they wanted to regain momentum from his previous lost and the crowd certainly didn't mind Davey winning. without a doubt motn. I'm also surprised that they did just about every move ever, but yet still saved enough for an eventual main event rematch. Kudos to them
4CS was a fun exhibition while the crowd recharged their batteries. Things picked up near the end. I was glad to see Generico win since, as it goes without saying, he plays a great babyface in peril. It was also great seeing the cop killah again and also seeing Generico sell it like how a person should sell getting dropped on their head. I think a feud between the two does have potential.
I did not have much expectations going into the main event with the how great the TV title match/Hero vs. Davey were plus the unlikely chance of a title change...but however these two delivered big time with a flogging sick match. I have never seen someone bleed that much in person with it often times just gushing out. There were bits were you could Roddy would chop Jay and a combination of blood, sweat, and spit would fill the air. Other times you could see skin fly right off his head as well. The most disturbing part was Strong giving a delayed suplex and for the whole time you could see a stream of blood going from his Jays head to the mat like a faucet. The Jay Driller through the table was also awesome. Needless to say the blood and drama worked as there were several close calls where the crowd thought that Jay had the three count. A great way to close the show.
Overall a great night of wrestling. Three matches in the **** or higher range and a enjoyable under card July 9th! This defiantly worth checking out on DVD.
Other thoughts and etc
-I didn't really notice any of the Tru TV stuff going on. Anyone else who was care care to explain what was filmed?
-Im not sure what the deal is, but charlotte crowd LOVES Sinclar
- Hagadorn is getting better as a heel manager. Also Seeing Del Ray in person was just.....woof! That was a pleasure on to itself ;D
-I decided to stick around a bit afterwords to avoid traffic and I'm glad I did. I was able to get some great pics with Cary, Grizzly, King, Sinclalr, Colt, and Delerious in full mask/character. Rhett, Daniels, and Davey were also meeting the fans as well. I also got some good pics of the entrance ramp, the ring being taken down, and the broken table from the main event.

--------- Show started late due to technical difficulties

b.) Christian York defeated Mike Sydal with what was described as a reverse uranage
1.) El Generico & Colt Cabana defeated The Bravado Brothers after Generico hit the corner Yakuza/Brainbuster combo to put out Harlem.
- After the match Corino cut a promo putting over Generico. States that 2010 was a year of hell and that 2011 is going to be the year of El Generico.
- Corino is now out and doing his recent "evil rehabiliation" speech. Calls out Devon Storm, regarding their past encounters, to be his first televised match on the road to recovery.
2.) Steve Corino defeated Devon Storm (aka Crowbar) after teasing the "disappearing thumb trick" and rolling up Storm after an abdominal strech.
3.) Marker Dillinger vs. Mike Sterling ended in a no contest when Michael Elgin came out and destroyed them both, hitting a Samoan Drop/Fallaway Slam...apparently at the same time!
- Martini grabs a microphone and tells the crowd, "They say 'all men are created equal'. They were wrong."
4.) TV Main Event: Homicide beats Mark Briscoe following a top rope Ace Crusher.
- Cornette is in the ring introducing the competitors for the Prospect Tournament. The surprise entrant is none other than Jonathan Gresham! Mike Bennett decides to introduce himself. Bennett says he shouldn't be in the tournament...he apparently is above it.
5.) Top Prospect Tournament Round 1: Corino was ringside watching as Kyle O'Reilly made Jonathan Gresham tap out to a triangle submission with a side of elbow strikes to the head.
- Postmatch, Corino spoke with Kyle Durden putting over O'Reilly and giving feedback. Corino stays out at ringside for the next match.

- Afterwards, Corino praises Elgin and tells him to ditch Truth and to follow his own path.
7.) TV Title Match: Christopher Daniels retains against Devon Storm via the Best Moonsault Ever.
8.) Top Propsect Tournament Round 1: Andy "Right Leg" Ridge beats Grizzly Redwood, hitting him with a Superkick to counter a 2nd rope attack. (Corino not around for this match)
9.) Top Prospect Tournament Round 1: Mike Bennett beats Adam Cole with a Half Nelson Slam apparently another good match between the two.
- Corino, back at ringside for this match, tells Bennett not to be too overconfident. Bennett tells Corino to leave the wrestling to the real athletes.
10.) Special Challenge Match: Claudio Castagnoli defeats Rhett Titus after Hagadorn distracted Rhett leading to Claudio booting Rhett's face off. King came out to argue the finish...which led to Hero coming out and starting the next.
11.) Special Challenge Match: Kenny King beats Chris Hero with a jackknife cradle...and gets a beatdown for his efforts at the hands of the Kings of Wrestling. Security came out but didn't end up being much help. El Generico and Colt Cabana made the save. Generico fistbumps Rhett and King!
That's all for tonight!
Apparently some stuff had to be cut from tonights card due to the long technical malfunction intermission prior to the show.
Check back in tomorrow 1/22/11 at 4PM EST for results to the last ever ROH on HDNet TV Tapings!

Oh, no. No, no, no. NO, no no no no no no no no no, NO.
You can NOT turn HepaTitus face. The crowd can not use HepaTitus as a chant supporting a guy.
Kenny King, though? S*** yeah, turn him face and pronto.
