I've really liked some of the guys I've seen from AJPW lately and I've got to admit I enjoy that type of Japanese wrestling over Dragon Gate and New Japan. I try and YouTube some of their matches now and then. Suwama currently is the Triple Crown champion and he's pretty good. I'm also really into Kaz Hayashi, Manabu Soya and even Akebono is decent. One of the most shocking things for me was seeing Big Daddy V (now in the Voodoo Murderers stable) actually have really good matches. Also, the last year's Real World Tag League had the return of Joe Malenko which was pretty freakin' sweet. I was hoping to get a thread going for AJPW with memorable YouTube matches, current results and maybe have somebody who knows more about Japan's scene explain some of the story lines to me. Below is the most recent results I could find for them: AJPW, 10.01.2011 Hamakita City Gymnasium 2250 Fans 1. Ryota Hama beat Takumi Soya (5:03) 2. NOSAWA Rongai & BUSHI beat Masanobu Fuchi & Yasufumi Nakanoue (10:48) when BUSHI pinned Nakanoune 3. Seiya Sanada & Manabu Soya beat KAI & Hiroshi Yamato (13:26) when Sanada pinned Yamato 4. KENSO beat Osamu Nishimura (17:26) 5. Kaz Hayashi & Shuji Kondo beat Minoru & MAZADA (9:57) when Hayashi pinned MAZADA 6. Minoru Suzuki, Masakatsu Funaki & Akebono beat TARU, KONO & Super Hate (12:05) when Akebono pinned Super Hate 7. Triple Crown: Suwama (c) beat Taiyo Kea (35:49) 2nd Defense

I'l be interested if MVP works for them (and Shawn Spears is coming in), but right now they're #4 for me behind New Japan, NOAH and Dragon Gate.

Big Daddy V was having really good matches on ECW before they decided to move him to Smackdown and do nothing with him.

Yeah, I think Kendo won the Real World Tag League with the awful Kenzo Suzuki.
I'm really into Suwame and think it would be great to see him in the states.
If we're able to post matches I'd love to just throw all of last year's Real World Tag League on here with some of the most recent matches as well. Is it okay if they aren't WWE or TNA?
Can somebody more educated on Japan tell me what happened to all the awesome Japanese women's wrestling from the 1980's and 1990's? That was the best wrestling in the world at the time.

It died in the late 90s. All of the great stuff was from 92-94. PM me and I'll give you a link to a good place for it.

Personally, I think AJPW in the 90s was gold. Kobashi, Misawa (RIP), Kawada, Akiyama, Taue, Hansen, Gordy (RIP), and Dr. Death (RIP), all those guys were awesome.
Obviously, All Japan nowadays isn't as good since that whole exile that saw most of its roster leaving to form Pro Wrestling NOAH, but I think the AJPW product now is decent.

I think NOAH has some problems at the moment. A company as big as them drawing 300 people is really, really bad. I have to admit All Japan did have one of the worst matches I've seen in a while. It was Kaz Hayashi against Mutoh for the light heavyweight title in 2010 and it is literally nothing but the same three spots for almost 15 minutes. It's a total disgrace. I understand it was right before Mutoh's knee surgery, but they should have just not had the match. It's a disgusting match that makes a bigger joke of wrestling than anything I've seen in years.

NOAH and AJPW should reunite. To use NOAH-specific imagery, the captain of the ark has died. Just look at how many people left NOAH after Misawa died.
Bring in Kobashi, Akiyama, Taue, Shiozaki, Morishima, Sugiura, Rikioh, etc to All Japan and have them claim that THEY are All Japan, Baba's All Japan. And then introduce Kawada as their leader.
And yes, Kendo Kashin's the shits. He's getting jobs because he's got lots of friends, not because of his skills or (shudder) workrate.
Lazy piece of crap, he is.

Isn't Akiyama supposed to retire soon? Kobashi will probably only work six-man tags on a limited basis after he returns from surgery. I do like the idea of AJPW and NOAH merging. Considering the state of wrestling in Japan, a merger between the two companies would be best for business. I also like the idea of Kawada leading the ex-NOAH guys against the All Japan guys in a quest to determine which group truly represents Baba's All Japan.

The current group doesn't represent Baba's All Japan nor do they claim to. They haven't used his image since his wife left the company. It's all about Mutoh and Pro Wres Love. Yeah, I think Kendo won the Real World Tag League with the awful Kenzo Suzuki.. Kendo Kashin hasn't been in All Japan for years. He refused to return one of their tag belts when he was champion with Yuji Nagata. Masayuki Kono aka KONO won the tag league with Suzuki. Personally, I think AJPW in the 90s was gold. Disgrace? Disgusting? Don't you think you're overreacting a bit? It's a wrestling match not a flag burning. Besides, it wasn't that bad. Yeah, the shining wizard into roll up was used to death but I thought it was still pretty fun overall.

I should have probably chosen my words better so I'll try a little better next time. Muta and Hayashi had a horrible match where they did the same three spots over and over.

Personally, I actually enjoy the AJPW of today moreso then the 90's. Yeah yeah, they don't have Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada, etc, but you never see people talking about other matches and for good reason, and they usually were mediocre at best and a non-existant Jr. Division.
Minus Hayashi going mad with power for a while, I think the overall product is much stronger then before.

Can somebody explain why AJPW doesn't bring in too many people from outside feds? I know they do every once in a while like Taka and such, but it doesn't seem too often. However, on a New Japan show they'll have a card with guys from three feds all over it.
On a side note everybody should check out Taka Michinoku's Awesome theme he used in All Japan where he curses in English over and over. It's hilarious.
**EDIT** Here's Taka's hilarious theme with cursing throughout. LANGUAGE WARNING.

Recent AJPW News:
Apparently Canadian wrestlers Shawn Spears (as stated earlier) & "Irish" Jake O'Reilly are going to be on AJPW's 2011 Excite Series Tour (2/6/11 - 2/13/11). I don't know if either guy is any good, but good luck to them.

Tokyo Sports has a report on a female fan shouting to Suwama to save his money after his Triple Crown defense against Kea.
She apparently works for a big bank in Tokyo and encouraged Suwama to save his money, which is probably the most random thing a fan has ever yelled at a wrestler.
