Every single time I read a story like this I wonder how Heyman isn't in jail. He owed quite a few wrestlers and other misc. ECW talent tens of thousands of dollars a piece. Paul should be in the cell next to him. The only thing I can think of is: I'm not sure a handshake counts as a binding legal document. Only a select number of contracts need a writing, and this would not qualify.

Honestly, this can only be good news. There's so many fly-by-night promoters out there who skip out on the talent that someone needs to hold their feet to the flame and make sure the message is sent that doing this is going to bite them in the ass eventually.

Oh yes. I agree 100%. It makes one wonder why this hasn't happened more often. Or perhaps it did but the internet being what it is now versus back in the day, it is possible we just never talked about it much because we didn't know

Really, if you're doing this, you can't half-ass it and expect the gate to make up what you owe to the wrestlers, if you're planning on doing things on the up and up. You have to be realistic and understand that the business can't draw as it used to, no matter where you or who you bring in. Things don't magically work themselves out, you have to have a plan and be ready.

Things don't magically work themselves out, you have to have a plan and be ready. These promoters are idiotic. It's one thing to bring in two or three names, but if you pay six guys plane tickets, hotel, booking fees and all that you'd almost have to sell two thousand tickets just to break even. However, the flip side of that is that many of these "name" wrestlers charge WAY too much for their services. There's no reason to pay a guy $1,000 who isn't going to bring in $1,000 worth of tickets.
