Anybody talk about the promoter who was arrested for not paying the wrestlers on his show? I was gone for a few days and I dunno if I missed it in here or if nobody posted about it.(couldn't find a thread on it)
Anyhoo, I am glad this douche had this happen and I hope it scares the crap out of jerkwad promoters who screw young wrestlers and veterans alike.

I remember reading the headline and thinking it was going to be Ian Rotten.

Dumbass HAD to be from West Virginia.
We got enough dumbasses to taint our reputation for the next hundred years.
Thanks, dick. Now even less guys are gonna want to work in my hometown. It's bad enough that anyone worth a damn around here took off to work for Pondo in IWA-EC, but now people are gonna think they'll never get paid if they work here.
And this asshole lives on the other side of the state!

And this asshole lives on the other side of the state! Actually,he's from Kentucky. He was running the show in West Virginia. Here's an article: bdtonline.com/local/x1919698386/Promoter-arrested-for-not-payingSo we can't claim this guy. He's Kentucky's problem.

I work for the sister newspaper of the one which broke the story and the sheriff's deputy interviewed, along with the writer, is a friend of mine. There was a follow-up story where Niedhart sent an e-mail to the paper saying he and Page got paid and that the promoter was trying to pay the locals and the other workers, including security, which included the deputy.

Every single time I read a story like this I wonder how Heyman isn't in jail. He owed quite a few wrestlers and other misc. ECW talent tens of thousands of dollars a piece. Paul should be in the cell next to him.

I wonder if I can get Paul Heyman arrested for cancelling an ECW show in Toledo and failing to tell ANYONE and then not refunding any of the tickets sold.

A promoter who doesn't pay the talent isn't that a majority of Indy promoters When I saw that a promoter actually was arrested for not paying the workers I thought it was a story from The Onion. "There's no way I could've pulled off ECW if my dad wasn't a lawyer. I've been sued more than Martha Stewart!" Heyman from the Rise and Fall of ECW dvd. Joey Styles: I'm sure glad you're dad's a lawyer. Heyman(voice heard from off camera): Not as glad as I am.-From an episode of ECW when they "weren't sure if they could show footage of a WWF contracted personality Sunny" in a backstage angle with Candido and Storm. Even if Heyman was only working off of hand shake I do believe habitually bouncing checks is something that can be criminally prosecuted.

The only thing I can think of is: I'm not sure a handshake counts as a binding legal document. as far as I understand, when WWE bought the rights to ECW they ended up footing the bill for a lot of guys Paul owed money to. some guys are still owed, though. basically if you had paper saying Paul owed you money, you'd been paid off. if you weren't smart enough to get it in writing, you probably are never going to see that money.

Hardcore History printed the actual money figures owed to the wrestlers, Acclaim and other vendors(Lighting, security ect.) WWE got a sweetheart deal on ECW thru the bankrupcy court and poor Acclaim who fronted them hundreds of thousands got stuck holding the biggest empty bag in all of the ECW money mess
