Both were each company's biggest "grand daddy of them all" events. Both have also put on classic matches and have a rich tradition.
So...
which were you? A Starrcade fan or a Wresltemania fan?

'Cade.
Back in those days, WWE was still filled with cardboard, cookie-cutter, cartoon characters, and the wrestling was better on the other brand.

I was a WCW guy, so Starrcade was my personal preference. But even though I wasn't a big WWF fan, I always recognized the significance of Wrestlemania as pro wrestling's biggest showcase, as far as mainstream attention goes. Looking forward to attending my first one in the ATL.

Yeah, when I was a WCW fan, I was a mark for the most part and hated anything WWF related. So Starrcade for me.

Wrestlemania even though I grew up as a WCW fan. WM was built and hyped better. You knew that it was the biggest show of the year whereas Starrcade, half the time WCW treated it like any other card.

WCW has only been broadcasted in my country since 2000, so the only good WCW memories i have are of Lance Storm. No Starrcades (or any PPV's) for me I guess i'm a Wrestlemania guy, but that's not my favourite PPV. That honour goes to The Royal Rumble.

WrestleMania was just a HUGE deal. It still is, its always been treated by the WWE's marquee show.

The only time Starrcade meant something was 1997. That's when I think WCW used that show as the blowoff to major feuds, especially Sting vs. Hogan.

I was a fan of both, but I was most excited for Mania. Growing up in the Charlotte area, I naturally was a NWA/WCW fan and Starrcade was their flagship event. However, it couldn't match the hype surrounding Wrestlemania, and nothing could beat Vince doing those over-the-top intros.

Starrcade, mostly because I watched more WCW growing up.

When I was a little kid it was WM. I was a little Hulkamaniac so it wasn't even close. I wanted to watch Starcade and I bugged my dad non-stop to order the 1988 edition because I just knew Luger would beat Flair and I had to see the real midnight express get back at rany Rose and Dennis Condrey. Much later I would not even begin to contemplate ordering any WWF PPV(a practice I continue today) and no matter how awful the booking was I'd plunk down my $30 each month for whatever wcw ppv was on. I loved starcade toward the end of wcw. I will never regret ordering the 97, 98 and 99 editions. I enjoyed the Nash/Goldberg match, the Hogan/Sting ending didn't bother me that much because my guy got his hand raised

From todays viewpoint i'd rather go with Starrcade, it had more and better wrestling. Sure they had bad matches and sometimes bad ideas like the singles/tag-team tournament in i think 1990 but overall it was better.
Wrestlemania was most of the time bad. How many good shows were there under the first 15? Wrestlemania 1,2,4,5,9,11,13,15 are bad and filled with horrible matches (just watch WM2, Fabolous Moolah - Velvet McIntyre is a 90 second botchfest)), short matches (ranging from 10-60 seconds) and are filled with "Who is this guy?"-Celebrities, filled with stupid crap (who wants to see crap like Run DMC at a wrestling show?!) and overlong segments (Pipers Pit from WM5 for example)
Back in the 90's i also liked WCW a lot more than WWF, so, also Starrcade

Wrestlemania is more of a spectacle. The Superbowl of Pro Wrestling. There's only a few of them that stand out as legendary though. A number of Manias were pretty mediocre. From a pure wrestling standpoint, Starrcade holds up better.

This should really be a poll.
