Rockin' Rebel is apparently an alumnus of ECW, but I don't remember seeing him there. I saw him a lot during the early years of CZW, and I couldn't stand him; I thought he was a boring, generic musclehead who's only charm was his physique (not that he really showed off his body via the getup he wore).
Was this guy ever any good? If he had any noteworthy matches and/or feuds in ECW, what were they?

All i remember about him was an interview with (i think) Tommy Dreamer in PWI who said the best rib he'd ever been part of was the night Paul E. told Rebel he would win a battle royal at the start of the show and then face Shane Douglas in the main event... battle royal starts, all the wrestlers involved gang up on Rebel and eliminate him first.

Rockin Rebel was a true ECW original and left before the promotion really made a name for itself. or should I say fired? either way.

The reason so many shows had him at the start of both promotions is he had a ring and promoters license. Basically he let them use his stuff so he could get on the cards and sell his merch.

Rebel still works a lot of north east indy companies, mainly in PA and NJ. He is quite the character. Exactly like he is behind the scenes as his character in the ring.

When I was in college, I was a member of Penn State's Pro Wrestling Club. Now, we didn't wrestle ourselves. We attended local shows, got in free at the nearest Bar & Grille's PPV showings, and once a semester we would bring in a local indy promotion to hold a show in our gymnasium (we even had CHIKARA a couple of times).
Anyways, I was told this story that at some point before I joined the Club, a promotion run by Rockin' Rebel was brought in for a semester. Now, the Student Activity Fee was how we financed these shows, and my understanding was that Rebel and the person in charge of the SAF had some sort of disagreement.
So during the show, Rebel got on the microphone and, in front of the whole audience, called the Secretary of the SAF a "Lesbian Ballerina C***."
Rebel was never brought back, it took at least another year before the Pro Wrestling Club could bring any promotion in again, and "LBC" became one of a large number of inside jokes among the members of the Club.
This is all I know about Rockin' Rebel.

How would describe his 'character'? He really doesn't seem to exhibit much personality in the old CZW shows I've seen that feature him. I find him very plain and boring.

That sounds pretty cool! I was part of a club like that back in the day, but there was no local wrestling going on at the time, so we mostly just watched taped shows or live PPVs. Did you go to any ECW or CZW shows? I'm guessing that you probably missed out on the real ECW since it folded before Chikara started.

I don't know about CZW but every time I've seen him (behind the scenes and in the ring) he is an extremely charismatic guy.

I remember that he had a pretty racist feud with Ruckus early on, beating him up and making Ruckus eat fried chicken and watermelon.

I've got a DVD somewhere where he faces Mikey Whipwreck for the ECW TV title. I've also spotted him as a jobber on WCW Saturday Night shows.

the funny thing is, I know his name but if he was in a lineup, even in his wrestling gear, I wouldn't be able to pick him out

He runs a small promotion up here, all I know is he was training some kid in a pseudodark match (I say pseudo cause its a indy show so technically its all dark matches) but anyway he made the trainee look damn good, the kid lost, but Rebel seemed to go out of his way to make him seem a threat which I thought was cool of him... other than that I saw him a few times at different shows he is kinda dick but like in a Daniel Tosh way where its funny but still he is being a ass

Saw a handful of ROH shows, and a good many CHIKARA shows (and I was very visible in a photograph that made it into an issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated ;D). It was a magical 2.5 years or so.
