2009 and 2010 kinda lost that spark. 2011 is just starting to regain momentum.
Something about WWE in 2008 was really cool that 2009/2010 was missing. I'm not entirely sure what it is, given that the roster/storylines were relatively static.

Really? What happened in 2008 to make you come to this conclusion? What events happened?
Personally I think 2010 has been one of the best years since the attitude adjustment era end. Big storyline in Nexus. The Rise of the Miz. An Awesome wrestlemania, Great new PPV in Money in the Bank. Sheamus becoming a star, Jericho and Batista being awesome in the beginning of the year, Michael Cole becoming an Epic heel. Lots of good stuff. I wouldn't say it's lost it's spark.

Really? What happened in 2008 to make you come to this conclusion? What events happened? Super-excellent Royal Rumble (including the Hardy/Orton title match) Ric Flair's series of retirement matches WrestleMania 24 was the first PPV I ever watched in HD at a restaurant. Despite the moderate card, it had a very epic atmosphere and feeling. John Cena vs JBL in a parking lot match (GAB 2008) Cena loses more often, making me like Cena more as his matches become less predictable WWE 2007 sucked really really bad, so maybe 2008 had no choice but to be some of WWE's best shows.

2008 was great compared to 2006 and 2007. 2009 and 2010 were better yet.
All things considered, it's been a constant improvement since 2006.

It was because of Ricky Ortiz.

It was because of Ricky Ortiz. It's true. Everything's better when we RALLY UP!

I completely agree with PTP. 2008 was a very strong, underrated year for WWE, highlighted by the extremely good HBK/Jericho and Undertaker/Edge feuds.
It was this stuff that got me back into following wrestling regularly, and I haven't regretted it.

2008 was very good and so was 2010. 2009 had the best start and then fell apart.
At a push I would take 2010 I think. Some great angles, and great moments.
Oh and Edge was at his absolute peak in 2008. Promo wise he could fued with someone who wasn't even there (Taker), SRS Jericho, and CM Punk being taken seriously.

2008 was good, but 2010 has been a fantastic year for the WWE, barring the end (Cena post-firing)

Here's why I loved 2008.
*Wrestlemania 24 was my favorite Wrestlemania. *HBK/Jericho. *Edge/Taker. *I really liked Triple H's WWE title run. *Amost ALL the PPVs were good. *Good Tag teams. *Good Divas. *Just an all around good year.

2008 was awesome. Jericho - HBK had a great feud that year and WM 24 was way better then WM 25 and 26.

2008 was good, but I loved 2009. It got me back into WWE full time.
The rise of CM Punk was during this time and it was glorious!

I hope it gets better.
I've just watched all of the PPVs from 02, 03, 04, and 05, and have recently finished No Way Out 2006, which left me basically wanting to gouge my eyes out with a fork it was so tedious. Any hope of improvement is a pleasant thought.

2008 was awesome.
You had Jeff's rise to the top, CM Punk winning the world title, the Taker/Edge feud, The HBK/Jericho saga, HHH's WWE Championship reign, Wrestlemania XXIV, and the fact that Cena and Batista lost more often and showed more heelish traits, unlike their Superman like characters in 2005-2007
