Seriously though they won both matches tonight.
Sure that leads to Show/Kane winning but its been so long since they won it was kinda shocking.
Plus there's the promo from Punk about him not "Being nice". Did he re-sign, because that would explain having him go over the US champ when they could have just jobbed him out.
They still need some work to be "back" though.

I just can't believe someone who beat the Undertaker multiple times last year was beat by Michael McGillicutty.

Yup. My first thought, too, was that he re-signed.

I think it's just to build his go-away program with Mason. They'll either win and then split when they lose, or lose and then split. Nobody's ever said how long was left on his deal. It could go to the end of the summer for all we know.
Probably the most likely scenario was that someone said "You know, if you want this guy to put over Mason huge on the way out, it might be an idea that he actually BEATS someone first, so it's worth something."
They book like this all the time.

RVD won when he was going out. Jericho won some before leaving. Jeff Hardy even had a title reign before leaving. contract status uncertainty doesn't mean becoming a jobber. they have Evan Bourne for the jobber role.

I really don't think Punk is coming back.
Punk is good friends with MVP, who in his recent podcast with Dave Lagana cited as one of his biggest reasons for not wanting to come back was that he felt like the WWE was becoming too corporate. MVP said he had never wanted a job with a suit and tie, which is what the WWE had become.
Little things Punk puts on Twitter, from his annoyance with promoting (he was really sarcastic this morning about doing local shows here in SA where someone "just read his Wikipedia page to him"), to "the canvas used to be stained with blood, now its stained with fake tanner", make me think Punk is himself not a fan of the overly corporate structure the WWE has set up.
Punk has been on the main roster since 2006, and in that time has main evented PPV's, TV shows, sold merchandise, and traveled the world. To put it short, Punk has probably made a good bit of money, and he seems smart enough to have saved a lot. Punk could probably go some time with what he's saved and live quite comfortably.
Punk is old-school and loves wrestling, and the fact of the matter is that the WWE is moving away from that. Punk seemed quite content in the indies, and if I had to guess, I'm saying he's gonna take some time off, maybe tour Japan like MVP is doing, and work the occasionally indy show.
He also has the added benefit of still having the rights to his name and gimmick, which I'm sure was intentional should he ever leave.
My gut really tells me Punk isn't staying.

As Rican said. Punk even has the rights to his name. Just like MVP had. Again, they are good friends, and seems to share similiar views on the WWE.

I was hoping Miz's match choice was going to be a gauntlet match for Cena with Otunga, Mcgillicutty and Mason, with Mason going over.

Honestly, if Punk leaves it would be worth it to have this damn stable gone.

The obvious conclusion to the PPV match would be Mason Ryan dominating and looking impressive, but KaneShow pulling out a win anyway thanks to a mistake from Punk, leading into Ryan splitting from Nexus and beating up Punk... except that we're doing that EXACT ANGLE with Zeke and the Corre right now.
They still have to lose the tag title match, if only because there's no other babyfaces for them to fight.

They still have to lose the tag title match, if only because there's no other babyfaces for them to fight. They'll just throw some team together, the tag titles are meaningless. I think the conclusion is having Mason win the match despite Punk, and then build to the eventual loss. Losing doesn't build Mason even if it has nothing to do with him.

I just can't believe someone who beat the Undertaker multiple times last year was beat by Michael McGillicutty. It's Kane. He has this canny ability to have even the worst things happen and still have credibility at the end of it.

...it's not gonna last long. They probably wanted them to look strong heading into the PPV. I am pretty confident that Kane & Big Show will continue their boring reign upon victory at Over The Limit and kill The Nexus soon after

I'm pretty sure Punk is staying in WWE. He has said his dream feud is with Stone Cold, and Austin himself stated that he could still go in the ring.
If Punk were to do anything in WWE and then eave, that would be it.

Wait didn't Punk sell the right to the name CM Punk and the gimmick to the E? Hence why he gets to use them?

Unless their gonna add a few more people to make the group look like a credible threat, they should end the New Nexus and have Punk go on his own again.
