Immediately, I see two upsides to this: - Friday night is considered the death-slot, especially at 8 p.m; a time that most potential viewers are out of the house. By moving to a day further away from the weekend alone, they'll see a substantial increase in ratings, especially since, given their time slot, most children (as children are considered their core demographic) will still be able to watch. Not to mention, another company is currently in that exact same time slot, that company being-
- TNA Impact. The WWE and TNA are unofficially in competition (unofficially, meaning WWE tries their best not to acknowledge that TNA even exists). However, feuding directly with TNA does two things: One, it essentially forces TNA to put on a better product in order to be competitive with the WWE. Two, as a result, WWE will have to better it's own product to stay ahead of TNA. The return of the oneupmanship, ala Monday Night Wars, could pay in dividends for both companies, as well as for fans of either or both products.
So what do you think? Should SmackDown return to Thursdays?

They'd get slaughtered by all the better shows. It'd only be good during the summer (though Cable's starting to dominate there), and those weird weeks there's nothing new on tv.
I mean I'd rather watch:
Burn Notice Bones NBC Thursday Big Bang theory Mentalist
than Smackdown. Let's not forget all the people who like ABC, everything else on CBS, CW, and American Idol.

Why not move it to Saturdays or Sundays?

They'd be oblieterated by NBC's thursday lineup. I mean, would you rather watch alberto del rio or tracy jordan?

I'd like to see what Smackdown could do with a Wednesday night timeslot myself.

Thursdays are my Burn Notice, ABDC and iMPACT days. I'm one of the few who probably watches SD at home on Fridays consistently.

Hell, why not go the whole hog and have it live on Tuesdays? What were the ECW ratings on SyFy compared to Smackdown?
And if that means a big gap at the end of the week where there's plenty of WWE programming which doesn't air in the US they could use (Bottom Line, NXT, The WWE Experience, Vintage Collection, Superstars, After Burn, This Week In WWE).

The TNA argument doesn't really work for me because Impact sucked when they were up against RAW. I doubt they would do any better against Smackdown.
However I agree Friday is a terrible night for a wrestling program. I go months without even remembering Smackdown is on.

I like the SmackDown here. We get it on Friday but we're a day ahead of you guys so we get the satellite feed. But that's just me.
I'd like to see them try a live SmackDown show every Tuesday.

People who say they forget Smackdown is on or they miss it 'cos they're out... are you people living in 1996 or what? Sky+, Tivo.. whatever you want to call it needs to be in your life. One button means you never miss anything.
Besides, how can you forget when FRIDAY NIGHT Smackdown is on?

No everyone has cable, a DVR (an extra $15 a month), those fancy multiple channel DVRs, or care enough to hit that "season pass" button.

Of course, if I ever met AdR, I would actually mark out, as opposed to if I'd met Tracy Morgan, who I'd beat to death with his own leg Quan Chi-style for being blatantly unfunny and being the worst thing to happen to Black people since Jim Crow. I rarely wish ill on people, but I want a house to fall on Tracy Morgan, and then I want Glinda the Good Witch to jack him of his shoes. Tracy Morgan makes me want to rip out my shin bones and gouge my eyes and ears out with them. So there.

It should be moved to Wednesday. Friday night is just a bad night for a TV show.

As much as I would LOVE for it to move back, it probably wouldn't be a good idea due to the amount of quality shows on Thursday nowadays. Wednesday wouldn't be a good night either due to American Idol.
