OK, I know the majority thinks of WM 17 as the greatest PPV in recent WWE history, and maybe of all time. But what show generally is viewed as the second best?
For me, I think SummerSlam 2002 is a great show. It doesn't get as much praise from WWE because of the end (Lesnar winning the belt). However, it has the HHH/HBK match which is one of my all time favorites. Throw in great matches like Angle/Mysterio and Guerrero/Edge, it was an awesome event.

I'd say Survivor Series 2002. Every match had something that make it enjoyable in my opinion and overall, a very good card.

if you count WCW, Great American Bash 89 is generally considered as one of the greatest PPV's ever
WWE-wise, yeah Summerslam 2002 was fantastic...I'd also nominate Canadian Stampede from 1997, that main event was something else!

Survivor Series from 2002 is my favorite of all-time. Wrestlemania X-Seven is second Summerslam 2002 is third Wrestlemania XIX is fourth.

Wrestlemania XIV is still my favourite.
Although getting away from the Manias, it's probably Fully Loaded 2000. Awesome event that showcases the terrific roster they had at that point. Benoit/Rock, Angle/Taker, HHH and Jericho's best match they ever had together. And not to mention the Rikishi/Val Venis cage match which was far, far, better than it had any right to be.

IYH: Canadian Stampede for me. Just a great pure wrestling show, with an incredibly fun ME.

Hard to narrow it down to just one.
Backlash 2000, Summerslam 2002, Wrestlemania 19, and Vengeance 2003 are all excellent shows from top to bottom.

Not necessarily my second favorite ppv, but this WAS a great show. I really loved the HHH/Jericho match. My second favorite ppv? I don't know if I can narrow it down very easily. I really liked both ECW One Night Stand ppvs, Backlash 2001, Vengeance 2005, and Summerslam 2005 personally.

No Way Out 2001 when you can get decent match out of Steph and at the time green Trish Stratus then you know you have had a good show. The Fatal 4 Way IC matches is also one of the best mid card matches I have ever seen and not much else needs to be said for either HHH/Stone Cold and Rock/Angle both incredible matches.
Either that or Summerslam 2002

Can I just say how good of a PPV Backlash 2007 was. All the matches were excellent, and I think THAT should've been Wrestlemania 23.

I remember after No Way Out 2009 aired people were calling it the second best PPV since WM17. I'm not sure if the events of that PPV would have the same effect now though, it was more of a "you had to be there" thing (although tbh that's true of most ppvs).

Royal Rumble 2001, No Way Out 2001, Backlash 2000, Survivor Series 2002, One Night Stand 05 and 06 and Wrestlemania XIX were all fantastic pay per views and are up there with the best of all time, but I think Summeslam 2002 is my 2nd ever favourite behind WM X Seven.
What would be seen as the best non Wrestlemania WWE pay per view of the last 5 years I wonder?

I am one of those people that thinks WM 17 is the best PPV of all time.
Ranking the others is very hard but I will say that I'd have In Your House 16: Canadian Stampede, SummerSlam 1998, SummerSlam 2002, Judgement Day 2000, and Survivor Series 2002 on my short list.
Canadian Stampede probably wouldn't get the nod from me because while it had an awesome card with no bad matches, there were only 4 of them.
SummerSlam 1998 didn't really have a stacked card but all the matches were good to great.
Judgment Day 2000 had a good card and an awesome main event but didn't quite have anything too special in the long run.
SummerSlam 2002 was stacked from top to bottom and really delivered.
Survivor Series 2002 was also a very stacked card, but didn't have quite as many classics as SummerSlam 2002.
In the end I'd rank them. 1. WM 17, 2. SummerSlam 2002, 3. Survivor Series 2002, 4. Judgment Day 2000, 5. Canadian Stampede, 6. SummerSlam 1998.

ecw one night stand. that was awesome. Oh wow, how could I forget about those? Yea, the first One Night Stand would actually be my 2nd favorite behind WM X7. No doubt about it. See it was so good that I actually forgot it was a WWE show

Yea wrestlemaina x-7 is the best ever, with summerslam 2002 coming in as a close second. HBK put on a special performance and the main event was incredible as was the under card. Rounding out the top 5 wwe ppvs for me would be survivor series 2002, ECW one night stand - first edition and Vengance 2003.
However, a really good ppv in my mind was Unforgiven 2003. The goldberg/hhh match was the best in their feud, with goldberg finally going over. I also really liked the last man standing match with kane and shane. The orton/ hbk match was good with solid buildup. Test/Scott stiener was a good match and an enjoyable feud and last the triple threat intercontineal match with rvd, y2j and christian was really good.
Fully loaded 2000 and Backlash 2004 were two very solid ppv's as well

My all-time favorite? WM24.
Second best in my opinion?
ONE NIGHT STAND 2007.
