Either repackaging a former WWF/WWE wrestler who returned or a wrestler who came to the WWF/WWE from a different promotion.
I'd have to say Umaga was one that really shocked me. I remember when I first heard the news that Jamal from Three Minute Warning was returning. I just remembered thinking, "what the hell are they going to do with him? They just fired Rosey so this guy is probably going to be heel jobber or something at best." About a year later he main evented WWE's second biggest PPV of the year with John Cena.

Kane is obviously the big one, and Umaga is up there.
JBL has to be one of the top ones.

Kind of hard to top Kane. If its just wwe guys yeah, but the tc also said guys from other companies coming in and changing, and that would probably make it Undertaker.

JBL has to be one of the top ones. I remember reading on the internets shortly after WrestleMania XX that Eddie's next feud was going to involve Bradshaw.. and I thought, "How in the hell are they going to do that?" Did they ever prove me wrong.

Woops. added an "s" to the end of the OP because I meant this to be a thread about successful repackagings in general, not just the single most successful.

Dolph Ziggler would be a good one, only one to have survived the Spirit Squad in the long term.

Wow, we're THIS deep into the thread and no one's mentioned "Rocky Miavia to The Rock"? From NOBODY who probably would have been released within a year to instant future legend.

From Kerwin White's caddy to "NICKY!" to "Hi. I'm Dolph Ziggler." And just to further cement that, he's the only member of the Spirit Squad employed by the WWE right now.
Surprising for me since I thought everyone in Spirit Squad was going to fail as individual stars. Nicky proved me wrong.

JBL
One moment he is beer swilling ass-kicking Bradshaw. The next he is this smartly dressed Intelligent, Wall Street type man who became our WWE Champion.
It was an amazing transformation and it felt like it happened overnight.

I wouldn't really count the Rock though. A repackaging, at least to me is more like a guy goes away for a bit and then he comes back with a completely new gimmick that has no connection to his previous gimmick. The Rock referred to his past when he became a heel and used that as a springboard to success.

To people who saw Raven in ECW, it must have been hard to connect that with preppy boy Johnny Polo.
Then of course WCW and the whee screwed him over, so I'm guessing the repackaging wasn't successful in the more well-known feds.
