Now that the Corre is done, Slater & Gabriel have split, Otunga being the only original left in the New Nexus, which probably isn't long for this world anyway, all of the Nexus orignals from NXT season 1 are basically on their own.
With that being the case, when all is said and done, which member has the best WWE career?
Right now, it's probably easy to say Barrett, but who knows really.
Since he's been released, it would probably take a lot for Tarver to get it done now.
But what do you think?

DBD will get his big push
Barrett's in a slump, and won't get out of it...unfortunately

It's funny now looking back on Barrett's "the winds of change are blowing" promo, because pretty much all of these guys are exactly where they would have been without the Nexus angle. Barrett is feuding over the IC title. Bryan is involved in mostly pointless midcard "feuds." Slater and Gabriel are on their way to being regulars on Superstars. Sheffeild is injured. Tarver has been released. Darren Young literally got sent back to NXT. And Otunga is now a lackey to CM Punk. Yeah, that was a really successful angle.

In reverse order: 8. Michael Tarver- Already released. 7. Darren Young- Next on the chopping block, unfortunately. That, or exiled to Superstars. 6. Skip Sheffield- He has a good look, and he definitely has a monster projection. With that said, it's shades of Ahmed Johnson and Mr. Kennedy all over again; if he can't not be injured for any duration of time, how can they push him but so far. 5. Heath Slater- Great in-ring, awesome seller, but he's just not as marketable as some of the others. In a tag-team with Gabriel, they'd be a serious deal, I'd say. By himself, I really don't see more than Superstars and being the resident enhancement talent for him. 4. David Otunga- For one of the worst in-ring out of the eight, he probably has the most going for him: a great look, for WWE standards; comfort on the mic, and it helps that he's a celebrity (let alone married to an even bigger celebrity). Then again, he's only been in the company for a few years; given time, he can get exponentially better in the ring and win over some of his detractors. He wouldn't be the first reality star to go from garbage to gold: Miz, anyone? 3. Justin Gabriel- Extremely marketable, can get over like gangbusters with women alone. He could be a serious asset to the midcard, or as a tag-team with Slater. 2. Daniel Bryan- He has it. Maybe he's not exactly a bodydonna or the biggest dog in the yard, but he has pure talent, valuable experience, and is the best in-ring competitor out of the eight. Definitely see shades of Chris Benoit in him, Dean Malenko at the least. Will he be world champion? Time will tell. But he is definitely a serious asset to the company. 1. Wade Barrett- He's extremely marketable as a top dog; he has the look, the comfort on the mic, the mic skills, and he's no slouch in the ring. He definitely has what it takes to be a major player in the WWE, given the right direction.

And I believe there was a complication with the surgery and that is why he is still out.

The dude brings nothing to the table other than muscles(which a dozen other guys have), and a decent lariat. It's weird how the internet has built up this myth of Sheffield being some brilliant big man in absentia of him actually being in the ring. He's average at best. Personally, I voted for Bryan. When they work out exactly HOW to use him, he's gonna be a megastar, if they care to let him be one.

Why has the WWE never played off of the connection between David "PUNK" Otunga & CM PUNK?

My predictions on how successful they'll all be (in WWE strictly)
Wade Barrett (The guy could be the best heel since Piper, just a hunch) Skip Sheffield (apparently Vince sees something in him, that is if he recovers well) Justin Gabriel (high flyers get over well, he has the look of a main eventer unlike Bourne) Daniel Bryan (I think he'll be in WWE in the same spot for a couple years like Shelton Benjamin) Darren Young (I'm kinda hoping he gets called up again) David Otunga (I have a feeling he'll retire early or something to be a lawyer) Heath Slater (I can see him being a Hawkins/Kidd level guy now he's on his own) Michael Tarver (released, unlikely he'll be back)

I think Gabriel will be the surprise hit of the group. He has an excellent look, non-generic ring attire, he's attractive, he's very sound in the ring, has his own style, etc. His promo work might be a little weak, I'm not certain on that, but he's got enough uniqueness going for him to stand out from the crowd. I really dig him.
