How does the game shows that's come along since the explosion of reality TV compare to the long running game shows?
I've had more fun watching the Price is Right episodes on youtube (my only access to them sadly) than any of the new stuff that is out.

I think I made the thread too early in the morning again.

I am a huge game show fan and nothing compares to the shows from the 80's and 90s. I miss that era greatly..

Really the problem with modern game shows is simply they've all turned into Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with the dramatic music and the lack now of just any real fun in it. Everything has to be overly dramatic and serious.

Everything has to be overly dramatic and serious. Or so over-the-top silly it's just plain stupid (the new "Let's Make A Deal", "Family Game Night").

Now I love Let's Make A deal. The original was silly as well as the 1984 revival. Family Game Night is meant to be family entertainment in the same vein as Disney Channel shows were and Nickelodeon shows in the early-mid 90s. Plus, the upcoming Game Of Life and Scrabble Challenge shows are going to be in that same vein as well, even though I'd love to see Chuck Woolery's scrabble see the light of day again.

I'd love to see Chuck Woolery's scrabble see the light of day again. After seeing what happened when they brought back Sale of the Century Temptation, I have ZERO CONFIDENCE in a Revival of TV Scrabble.

Drew Carey just doesn't have the energy Bob Barker did. He makes everything sound the same, whether they're winning or losing.

I like Pointless; it's essentially a reverse family fortunes/family feud/battle royal.

No Press your Luck, no buys. I still laugh over the fact that some guy actually memorized the pattern of the board and managed to take that show for thousands and thousands of dollars.

Drew Carey just doesn't have the energy Bob Barker did. He makes everything sound the same, whether they're winning or losing. Bob Barker at the end became painful to watch as he had to have everyone repeat their bid or mis hearing everything. It came off as sad.
