i recall Axl talking about it being written way earlier than that. i believe the song was written by Izzy, and the original version had some help from Traci Gunns too. (another part of the Traci's lawsuit if i recall...it mostly had to do with not getting credit for helping write quite a few songs in the gnr catalog...he got a really really nice ammount of money for it out of court)
November Rain is another one that apparently was written before Axl left indiana, as i remember hearing Izzy and Shannon Hoon talking Axl playing it whenever he would get near a piano back then.

Yea, I've read Axl had worked on November Rain for forever. That song was definitely his baby. It was also something like 18 minutes at one point. There are a few songs on Use Your Illusions that were written earlier than than and saved for later. I find that randomly interesting.

Welcome To the Jungle Anything Goes the ending riff for Rocket Queen parts of Nightrain Dont Cry Civil War You Could Be Mine there could be more...thats all i can remember off the top of my head though....his lawsuit was all around how he didnt get any credit for helping write those songs.

I'm totally gonna look this up and read about it now. He really did shut up about it because I've read many books/articles on GNR and never really heard much about Tracii outside of him having been in and out of various incarnations of the band with Axl and Izzy. He must have gotten *a lot* of money lol

LOL I don't know what I love more, Tracii asking to be in the band or Axl not getting back to him.

Guns....which there are two versions of these days
