It premieres tonight on HBO. The reviews have been very positive, with a few exceptions. Anyone else going to watch it?

HBO is free this weekend, if that helps.

I've been counting down for 18 months, there is no way I am not watching this.
The only negative reviews it's had are from people who aren't being negative about the show, but just bitching about how they dont like fantasy, and one guy who just moaned there were too many boobs out to see

I'll check it out if it ever comes over to British TV. The fact that Sean Bean's in it and (As far as I know, haven't read the books) won't be playing someone who dies in the second act is a clincher.

I just started reading the book a little while ago, I'm guessing I've read enough to cover a first episode. I'll likely check it out.

I'd love to watch it tonight... but I don't have HBO. Well, I guess we can't bitch at HBO is they pull the show before the finale, considering we won't get one for the book I'm kinda hoping that this tv series will do really well, and that the success will give GRRM more incentive to at least finish the next book.

I'm on the opposite end. If it does well, then he'll be in more demand at conventions and stuff so he'll have even less time to finish his series.

If it reaches the point where they need the next book for them to be able to make more episodes, though, then he'll have some danged fine incentive to finish it, if only to provide more stuff for the TV series to work off. And, even if he doesn't finish the next book, maybe we'll get some resolution via the TV series, which would be better than nothing.

I'm one of Martin's disgruntled fans that refuses to have anything more to do with series until it's done. I don't mean when Dance with Duke Nukem comes out, I mean when the SERIES is done.

First episode was excellent. I don't like the way they handled Khal Drogo as he's a lot more... cuddly in private in the book (and Dany is a lot more consenting). Otherwise, it's a pretty damn good adaptation.
Also, apparently A Dance With Dragons is apparently coming out in July. I'll believe it when I see it, though.

Loved it. The opening credits were amazing. But the thing I was most impressed by, was Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, as Jaime Lannister. Excellent casting.
Oh, and Emilia Clarke (Dany) is hot.

maybe I should have acquainted myself with the source material first, that episode threw a lot at the viewer. I read that the season cost $50-60 million dollars to film, and it shows. Very nice visuals. And, as previously mentioned, cool opening credits.
Just one question though - was that lady blowing that midget?

while I get what you are saying, I shall be along for the ride no matter what. If I over thought about when people might pass away and whether their works will be done, I dont think I'd ever read any series.
