Well, since this horror thread has gone so swimmingly and we're rapidly approaching page #30...are there any suggestions for HOF inductions? People that we've praised, or that deserve the honor regardless of that semi-rule? I'm drawing a blank. I did throw a nod Olivia Hussey's way a while back. And Clint Howard's been suggested a few times throughout the threads, hasn't he? Beyond them, there's the people I've always wanted to see inducted, but they don't exactly fit the mold of who you've got in thus far (y'know, guys like Lon Chaney Jr. or John Carradine). *shrug* Thanks for the suggestions. I now have a new crop of HOF inductions written up, and fittingly enough all are guys that were actually brought up in some way, shape or form in the threads. Hope everyone's happy with them when the time comes.

In terms of ironic titles, it's amusing to see that The Last Exorcism 2 has been announced.
The only notes I've seen are on Upcominghorrormovies.com:
The title changing news saddens me.

Remember my Movienalia series last year? Remember how Halloween III, NOES 2 and Jaws 4 got ripped to shreds as my sanity began to dip? Ever wish that series would return and I'd tackle a Friday the 13th film? Today is you're lucky day! Movienalia makes it's triumphant return with Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. www.freakinawesomenetwork.com/2011/08/movienalia-jason-goes-to-hell/Enjoy!

So which multi-sequel franchise would you say has the best sense of continuity?

So which multi-sequel franchise would you say has the best sense of continuity? The Nightmare on Elm Street and Child's Play series have some good continuity. I'd put Scream on there too, but continually adding relatives to Sydney kind of soured that.

It's been a while since I've watched JGTH. The last time was when I reviewed the movie in one of these threads...and that'll be enough viewings for the rest of my life. Easily my least favorite movie in the entire series, and I very much enjoyed those Movienalia notes. Also, no long-winded tirade this week. Next Thursday, though, I'll be posting a review of a movie that I've literally wanted to see for 20 years. Hopefully it (and the review) live up to the expectations.

If anyone remembers my little article about REPO! I did a thread or 2 back, I'm finishing up on a new one for the original "Day of the Dead". I should have that up soon.

Solid review, Mikey. Kinda makes me want to dig up my taped-off-tv VHS copy of DAY OF THE DEAD and give it a watch.

It is with great sadness that I must inform you all that on August 19th, screenwriting legend Jimmy Sangster passed away at the age of 83.
Sangster wrote the screenplays for HORROR OF DRACULA and THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN for Hammer Studios, and went on to write for several of those films' sequels. He also wrote for flicks such as THE CRAWLING EYE, WHOEVER SLEW AUNTIE ROO?, the tv movie GOOD AGAINST EVIL, an episode of "Kolchak: The Night Stalker", and many many other projects.
RIP Mr. Sangster.

Auntie Roo (which I did get around to seeing, btw) is just a step behind them. R.I.P., Mr. Sangster - your contributions to horror were truly memorable.

Sinister, gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on one thing. Dr. Logan is one of my favorite characters in the movie. His rationality, despite what he's doing in his lab, is actually sound, considering his mental situation and that of those around him. Also, he's wonderfully acted by Richard Liberty and responsible for some of the best gore stuff in the movie. Still one of my favorite secondary characters in all of horror.
And seriously...you rooted for Rhodes? Schwah?

Just finished John Carpenter's The Ward. There is some good tension built and John uses the atmosphere well, but the script is lacking. The actresses are fine, but their characters are poorly written. The ending is terrible and ruins the impact built up. Overall, it's a mediocre ghost story that has some nifty direction and decent acting.
Final Rating: C+

Also, he's wonderfully acted by Richard Liberty and responsible for some of the best gore stuff in the movie. Still one of my favorite secondary characters in all of horror. And seriously...you rooted for Rhodes? Schwah? I admit he gave a great performance, but it always seemed like he had "bad idea" written all over him. Like the scene in the complex where Rhodes takes control, pretty much everyone on the research is either angry or worried, cause Rhodes is losing his mind. In comes Frankenstein, late and seemingly without a clue to what's going on, and then he proceeds to antagonize this guy with the gun. I looked at my TV and said to him "Do you actually WANT to die?". He's smiling, all smug and the like, while Rhodes is going off on everything. He's always covered in blood, puts his experiments above everyone else in the facility, plus his actions directly lead to the climax of the movie, with Rhodes getting pissed, setting off his plan to get out and either killing members of the staff or leaving them to die in the zombie pens. Plus, come on, using the dead bodies of the soldiers to "reward" his test subjects? Rhodes had the right to be pissed and do what he did there, and only there. He was pretty much a mad scientist, and most mad scientists don't do anything good, usually creating monsters, T-virus, and sending men into space to show him bad movies. To me, it reminds me of the scene in Jurassic Park 3, where Dr. Grant finds out his assistant Billy stole those raptor eggs so he can sell them to fund their dig, which, because he took them, pretty much f's them over during most of the movie cause of it. When it happens, it leads to this: Frankenstein may have had the best of intentions, but his actions pretty much lead to things going to hell for pretty much everyone involved.
