I always had a soft spot for this character. Was anybody else fans of the character?

I liked him, and thought the prod, while cheesy, was a good prop for a heel to have. Gets heat, but isn't actually dangerous.

Loved him. Great heel, though his first theme was far, far superior to the "I'm The Mountie" theme.

The SNME match between the Mountie and Roddy Piper was great.

I liked him. Although I wanted them to mention whatever happened to his brother.

I always liked Jacques Rougeau because he had a mouth on him. His yelling riled you up to the point where you wanted to punch him right in the face. He'd get the upper hand on an opponent and start yelling:
"I AM THE MOUNTIE!"

Wasn't his finisher like a Shoulder Claw or something?

Wasn't his finisher like a Shoulder Claw or something? Did a match he ever have end without the stun gun popping up in some way? Other than that, I think he used a sleeper.

Wasn't his finisher like a Shoulder Claw or something? Did a match he ever have end without the stun gun popping up in some way? Other than that, I think he used a sleeper. Whenever it was against a jobber or lower tier WWF wrestler, he used the shoulder claw. Against tougher competition, the cattle prod or getting dq'ed occurred.

He did pretty well with a silly gimmick considering others like Skinner, Berzerker, Giant Gonzalez, Booger/Friar, Demento and others had very little to no success. Mountie wasn't as bad, and was based on something very realistic but it could still be seen as silly. It probably helped a lot he had great opponents like Bossman, Bret and Piper and even as he was leaving in 1992 he was still in the IC title scene with a proposed Survivor Series match with Bulldog.

lol I randomly started singing his theme to myself at work. As a kid I always wanted a cattle prod (or as I called it a shock stick) like his.

I've honestly always considered Jacques Rougeau one of the most underrated heels of all time. In addition to being a good worker, he was awesome at little cheap heat tactics and just had this smug, slimey quality that just made it impossibly for you not to want to boo the guy. He could look you right in the eyes and tell you your drink was poisoned and you'd have to drink it anyways just because there was no way you could believe he was telling the truth. Also his selling and facial expressions were just over the top enough to be entertaining and memorable, but not so over the top as to be silly.
The Mountie gimmick, while a little silly, he put all his effort behind and played the character perfectly, making it as memorable as it was. The cattle prod was a nice little gimmick too. I don't think he gets enough credit for his role with the WWF in the 90's.

Jacques is a great guy, I have a lot of respect for him. The story of how he stood up to Dynamite Kid was amazing and he tells it so well. He has no ill will for Kid though, he actually regrets that the incident ever happened. The Mountie is a class act all the way.

I thought I remember his shoulder claw thing being called the CCT, Carotid Control Technique...basically a version of a sleeper.

Loved the guy. Him getting thrown in the jailhouse at Summerslam was hilarious, so I'd be a fan of his for that alone, but he was also a decent wrestler who new how to get heat.

Jacques Rougeau... I never liked him. Not when he was a Fabulous Rougeau, not when he was a Mountie, and not when he wasn't a Mountie.

I loved every incarnation of Jacques Rougeau, he was hilarious but you never wanted him to turn face because he was so hateable, he had a quality about him, I'm glad he got an IC title run and some Tag Belts, got some recognition.
