That's insane about Sheamus. And there's still a good chunk of the year left.

It's so bizarre reading through the beginning of the year, back when Primo and Epico had the best win-loss records on the roster.

See, that's how a Champion should be booked. A World Champion no less. Win a bunch of matches, because you're the Champion. Why would the Champion lose so much.
Like, the Miz for instance, my goodness. That's the Intercontinental Champion. Jey Uso has a better record then the Intercontinental Champion.

Updated for Main Event.
All the male champions (save for the NXT Champion but that was just introduced recently) are now in the top 20.

Because watching paint dry and grass grow simultaneously is more interesting then sheamus's current push. Spoiler, he wins his next match via brouge kick, boy howdy, thrill-a-minute action right there.

I know I'm late, but I'm so happy they finally decided to pin this.

I just looked up the records you did from 2011 and saw that Randy Orton ended the year on top with 48 wins. Sheamus trailed him with 43. I understand this year has more programming (extra hour of RAW, YouTube pre-shows, Main Event, Saturday Morning Slam), but that's still significantly less than what it seems like the total will be this year.

Also, the SuperShow format didn't start until the middle of last year, so that's also part of why you see top superstars wrestling on TV more this year.

The person who is the World Heavyweight Champion should have the best record, and the next contender, the strongest contender, should also at least have a strong record. Ryback actually seems like a deserving Champion, just based on the records. And yeah, Sheamus' run has been less then stellar, in regards to storylines and angles, but he's still being pushed like he should.

Why should the Heavyweight Champion have a better record than the WWE Champion? Different characters and people leads to different booking. Sheamus is sold based on how dominant he is, which is why he wins most of his matches. Punk isn't, so he can take more losses.

Sheamus is sold based on how dominant he is, which is why he wins most of his matches. Punk isn't, so he can take more losses. And Punk was sold as "the best in the world". His character should have been treated just as, if not more dominant than Sheamus. Besides, no character, regardless of what title they have, should be winning that much in a year. I honestly can't think of a single superstar in the history of the WWE that wins more TV matches than Sheamus. And that's ridiculous.

Just looking at the two of them side-by-side, who do you think people are more likely to buy as a dominant ass-kicker? The skinny(er) guy whose biggest attribute is running his mouth or the larger than life superhero? Punk's a lot like Shawn Michaels. He can win, but he's going to take a beating. It's easy to sell Punk as being vulnerable, because his strengths aren't in his dominance. As far as the amount of wins goes, when most of your opponents on the two shows you constantly appear on are David Otunga, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto del Rio, Wade Barrett, and Cody Rhodes, your win-loss record is going to be one-sided. It really doesn't mean anything.

And the reason why the guys you've listed aren't seen as a big deal are because guys like Sheamus constantly beat them fairly effortlessly. All of them, aside from Otunga, could easily be seen as upper-midcards if they weren't constantly being fed to main eventers.

Not only is the "Sheamus is disliked by many" claim dubious at best, fans don't hate dominant faces. Otherwise Hogan, Austin, and Undertaker wouldn't be as beloved as they are. If fans weren't taking to Sheamus, it wouldn't be because of his dominance. Speaking as someone who's not even much of a Sheamus fan, him winning is something that actually makes sense. As for the rest - it's not because of Sheamus that the guys I mentioned (minus Del Rio) aren't seen as a big deal. If WWE really considered Dolph Ziggler so important before, then they wouldn't have fed him to Sheamus in the first place.

If WWE really considered Dolph Ziggler so important before, then they wouldn't have fed him to Sheamus in the first place. Of course he's disliked by plenty of fans. That's why he's been booed against a number of heels. And even when he gets cheered, they're not what you'd expect from the suposed #2 face of the WWE. And let's not even try and compare Sheamus to the likes of Hogan, Austin, and Undertaker. He's a second-rate John Cena at best. And I think the fact that he dominates the roster is a big reason of why Sheamus isn't more over. It's why Cena can't get half the audience on his side. And the WWE pushing Sheamus as dominant is what led to that incident at Wrestlemania. Who cares about a champion that never shows vulnerability? And for that matter, who's going to care about his opponents that never stood a chance? And I wasn't talking about the WWE seeing those superstars as a big deal. I was talking about the fans.
