I just want this damn fight to happen already. Even with Mayweathers' jail sentence postponed until June, the fight still won't happen in May. The very earliest it can happen now is in November.

The very earliest it can happen now is in November. This is like Austin Vs Hogan to me. I would love to see it happen, I'd pay £50 for it to happen. But it won't. A less obvious comparison would be Frank Mir Vs Fedor in the UFC...but it won't happen. I'd give up hope dude. It won't happen for a long time unfortunately.

I honestly think it will happen, just it won't be for a long while yet. This is one of those fights that just has to happen to see who the true #1 Pound for Pound fighter is in this boxing era. Mayweather is the favorite after the Pacquiao/Marquez III fight, but people definitely shouldn't count Pacquiao out. He just had an off night against Marquez, but that doesn't mean he won't be at his best against Mayweather.

But these guys are in their thirties and until they hit the big 40, with no ranking/number 1 system in place, they can wait all they want until they want to make the big bucks....and people will buy it. But it won't be when they are in their prime...in my opinion.

The Duke Nukem Forever of boxing? No, it's the FFVII Xbox 360/PS3 remake. Next three years probably, being optimistic.

This fight will never happen. Boxing is dead and the only thing that can save it has been canceled or delayed everytime it has even begun to get organized

The Duke Nukem Forever of boxing? More like the Chinese Democracy of boxing. This fight won't happen if Mayweather goes to jail to be honest. I just have a feeling Arum won't offer it again if he goes to jail and will do everything he can to make it look like Floyd would rather go to jail than face Manny(Even though there would be some truth to that.) But Floyd and Arum have not liked each other since their business relationship broke off and I think Arum will use this to destroy Floyd's credibility and his legacy. However, Floyd still has no one to blame but himself for getting in trouble and putting himself in this position.

Joke, I believe that no champion wants to fight the number 1 contender. They're two guys in their mid thirties who could make about 1 billion dollars in revenue. Yet they won't do it.........huh

I think Teddy Atlas actually hit out on this point that it would take a massive amount of money to make this fight happen. You're talking in the neighborhood of $50-60 million... each! That puts a promoter $120 million in the red before the fight even happens. That's a ton of money to make back when you can take the money for your guy, pair him with a lesser opponent and still make almost 20-25 million in profit a fight.

I used to think that this match might save boxing, but it won't do much and here's why:
Once the fight happens, what's the next must-see match? From a casual fan's perspective, I don't think there is one.

But, I wouldn't put it past Floyd to go to jail rather than fight Pacquiao. This is the perfect opportunity for Floyd to take the fight as a last hurrah before he goes to jail and probably rides off into the sunset. But, something tells me he'd much rather go to jail and allow Arum and the media to trash him forever than fight Manny. If he doesn't take the fight NOW, it's all on him.
