I.e. the highest grade you received that still felt like it was an F even if it was like an A-. (or equivalent grades)
For example, I just got my first organic chemistry exam back. It's an 84%. I was expecting a lot better of myself, and a lot of the mistakes are really boneheaded mistakes. My prof himself said that it's obvious I know the material, I just need to stop second-guessing myself.
It's an 84%. It's a solid B, on a test out of 100 points. The class average was an 80%. It's freaking ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. By organic chemistry standards a B is pretty damn solid, but I'm still freaking out about it.

Tenth grade. Second year French class. We received quarterly grades and two of my first three were F's. I was totally lost in the class and my teacher made it clear that he thought I was lazy and stupid. There was no possible way I would ever pass the course.
The teacher gave me a D- for the year. I'm pretty sure it was because failing would force me to retake the course and my teacher didn't want to risk having me in his class again.

Walked out of the Sequential Math III Regents exam in 2003, the last year before they switched to Math B in NYS, thinking there was no way I got less than 100% on it. Ended up with a 94% and had some big time nerd rage to start my Summer.

5th grade, final report card for elementary school. Went through elementary getting only A's and B's. Final card, I get a C+ I believe in English.
I was heartbroken.

I just got an 87 on a math test and I'm not all the way pumped about it at all. I'm kinda on the same boat. I got an 82 on the semester's first chemistry test when I know I could have done much better.

My Senior year of high school I took AP English. In AP English our main assignments were four book reports that we got to pick ourselves. My final report was over Macbeth.
I, in my usual procrastination, finished the report the day it was due, and handed it in, feeling good about it. I got a high B on it. The one problem with my report? It was all one big paragraph. I forgot to break the damned thing up into smaller paragraphs.
The most boneheaded of bonehead mistakes to make cost me an A. It was an A worthy report, but I made a single, albeit f*** mothering huge, mistake.
Edit: I know it wasn't a test grade, but it is the best thing I got, because I always was happy with my test grades. If I passed the test, I was happy.

Great thread. One quiz in particular I remember for Algebra 101 that I took a couple of semesters ago during my present status in college. I studied the material for hours, practiced the problems, and through my practice I wouldn't go anywhere until I either figured it out or I got all of them right.
Well, after much studying I was prepared for the quiz and I took it. Needless to say I made a 103 on it, however, I lost two points due to a careless error on the bonus problem. I was pretty disappointed and since I am a perfectionist, Type A personality, and etc it made me a little upset.

Before college I never got upset over a poor grade. Usually because I expected it to be poor in the first place. If I did get upset it was because I knew I'd be in trouble when I got home.
Anyway, it happens a lot now. A few quarters back I was 3 or 4 tests into one class and had made 100's on everything. So when I missed a question on one and made a 96 I actually got kind of pissed. More recently, I've been really disappointed in myself if I make anything less than a 90 on a test. Even in my worst subject, Algebra, I get kind of upset over B's.

Have to say US History. At MTSU. Wasn't a test, as this professor didn't do tests, so much as you had to write a paper. The final had to deal with all the culminated info from the course. A week's worth of restless nights, endless amounts of coffee, cigarettes, the cliche' of sitting in a room surrounded by paper...all lead to what I thought was a phenom 100+ page paper. Got a "D".
