College Gameday before the App State/Michigan game Hilarious in Hindsight Hilarious in Hindsight, but I don't think anyone saw that coming. It's like Mel Kiper never being able to live down all the junk he said about Tom Brady being a 6th round pick.

The beginning of the end of Lloyd's career and the future that was FraudRod. Despite being the best program in college football, we'll never live this down. Look at the bright side, when they talk about biggest upsets, Boise State vs. Oklahoma will always be above you guys Sure, APpalachian State was more unexpected, but OU was on a much, much bigger stage. In the history of College Football, no team in the AP Poll had lost to a team from a lower division, let alone the #5 team in the country. Michigan, with National Championship aspirations & favored by 99% of people, lost at home to a 1-AA team they put on the schedule to pick up an easy win over. That one loss triggered a domino effect that left Michigan in the shitter. Oklahoma got over that loss quick. Four years later, Michigan's shame is still lingering in the air from the loss to the Mountaineers. Boise State vs. Oklahoma is #2 on the Biggest Upset List. Say what you will about Boise State, but they were in the Fiesta Bowl. Oklahoma lost to a team that made it to the Fiesta Bowl. The #5 team in the country lost to a team from the FCS.

Just an aside, I said it then and I still say it, we never should have been number 5. Our defense was to young and we were coming off a mess of a year. Why we were ranked 5 is beyond me.

For what it's worth, I agree that Appalachian State was a bigger surprise because of the ranking (even though I believe that was after the AP poll pulled out the BCS, making them irrelevant). But no way that loss has a bigger impact than the Oklahoma-Boise State game. That game didn't trigger Michigan's downfall that year, the fact that Michigan was overranked due to preseason polls being worthless popularity contests did. The Oklahoma-Boise game? That's still being talked about by more than Michigan's rivals. That's the game that gave the anti-BCS movement it's atomic bomb, because despite the fact that Utah had been there before, it was the first time a non-BCS school beat a BCS powerhouse in a BCS game. Had Boise lost that game, no way we're hearing rumors of Boise State to the Big 12. Had Boise State lost that game, the playoff movement hits a stumbling block. Had Boise State lost that game, there's no way a Boise player gets on the cover of a videogame and very unlikely that they would have ever left the WAC. Remove the impact, and yes, Appalachian State was a bigger upset. But that loss turned a team into a punchline for a year or two, the Boise State game has altered the landscape of college football. That's why I see it as a bigger upset, and why I think it will be considered as such. It was more than an embarrassing loss.

A team from the FCS that was coming off of its second FCS national championship win in a row and was on a 14 game winning streak when it entered the game. In other words, the best freaking team the FCS had to offer at the time.

It'll be interesting to see if any freshmen stand out this year.
We have seen some great freshman players (Adrian Peterson, Herschel Walker, Michael Vick, Michael Crabtree)

Utah looking descent against a lower quality team. But I don't expect perfection first game of the season with a new offense and a injured front line. But if they want to compete in the Pac they better do better.

Wisconsin is kicking that ass so far. In other news, water is wet. Wisconsin's defense seems somewhat suspect though, UNLV has ran the ball relatively effectively. They'll have to get that straightened out before conference games.

Big Ten Game of the Year: Nebraska v. Wisconsin. Wouldn't be surprised if that was the inaugural Big Ten Title Game as well.

The Kentucky/Western Kentucky game has been pretty ugly thus far. UK leads 7-3 at the half, but they only have 29 yards of offense.
