Are there any other good books in children's fiction out there?

I hated Percy Jackson ;D I'd recommend Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines series. They're really unique, set in a post-apocalyptic world where cities and towns have evolved to move around on huge wheels (Called Traction Cities) hunting each other for metal, food and other valuables and focuses on the tensions between the people of the Traction Cities and a group of Anti-tractionists. They're really good books with some great characters.

Do you just mean fantasy that is accessible for kids?
Outside of Welsh names being difficult, the Prydain series is sort of like Tolkien on training wheels. Good stuff.

If you want to go a bit further back, Rudyard Kipling's Stalky & Co., though it lacks magic (some aspects of the supernatural, like all good children's stories, does remain), is great for it's depiction of student life.

Haven't read much fantasy books other than HP, so all I can recommend is Artemis Fowl.

Do you just mean fantasy that is accessible for kids? Children's fiction that I as an adult can read.

Watership Down and The Wind in the Willows are also books I would recommend.
