msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/new-york-giants-jason-pierre-paul-TNA-Impact-wrestling-guest-appearance-021112Updated Feb 11, 2012 5:40 PM ET Before getting his Super Bowl XLVI ring, New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will set foot in a pro wrestling ring. A source told FOXSports.com that Pierre-Paul will make an appearance for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling at a Monday night television taping in Orlando, Fla. The segment will air on TNA's Thursday night Impact Wrestling telecast (9 p.m. ET, Spike TV). Although his NFL contract prohibits him from partaking in too much scripted action because of the injury risk, Pierre-Paul is expected to have an in-ring confrontation with TNA star Kurt Angle. TNA booked a similar storyline last year involving Angle and New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott, who is an avid pro wrestling fan. TNA also has used NFL players like Pacman Jones and Frank Wycheck in its wrestling angles. Pierre-Paul is coming off his best NFL season, earning Pro Bowl honors after notching 16.5 sacks during the regular season. He also played a key defensive role last Sunday in New York's 21-17 Super Bowl XLVI victory over New England.

Shame he can't actually get physically involved in anything like sacking Bobby Roode or something. As long as it's a one-off appearance it should be fun.

All for a 30 second blurb on ESPN where they make fun of him showing up just to catfight against Angle.

Athlete involvement is probably the most pointless form of celebrity involvement, because they can literally do nothing physical. So they show up, get a nice pay day, and the clip might get shown on ESPN while the anchors ask "What's TNA?"

Well, that's another $15,000. Someone in that company should steal it and spend it on booze or something, they'd get more entertainment out of it.

*le sigh* Did the world of Wrasslin' really need Pacman 2.0? Yeah....no. Pierre Paul hasn't been involved in a shooting that paralyzed someone permanently.

Oh I know that, I meant the fact that we do not need another angle that involves a football player who isn't allowed to have physical contact with the wreslters.

And just watch as those ratings do nothing as a result of this.

And just watch as those ratings do nothing as a result of this. Well, at this point that is a given.

Is it sad that this is the guy I thought of when reading the subject line? Granted, I'm not a sports fan so I have no idea who Pierre Paul is.
