I am just wondering if there was anyone who actually likes Vampiro. There are people who don't like him and write negative things about him. But is there anyone including this forum that does like him? He has gotten a lot of hate from people over the years. I have seen him wrestle and I don't see what is so horrible about his wrestling. Maybe I need to see more of his matches. He doesn't look like he could be the best of all time, but if he was such a bad or mediocre wrestler, how did he become so popular in Mexico, a country where people take wrestling more seriously and where luchadores are mainstream? Well, my point is, why don't we take the time to say something nice about Vampiro.

Honestly, I liked Vampiro, during his run in WCW with The Misfits, not so much the ICP. He definitely had a lot of potential, a great look, and if the company hadn't collapsed, would have been in line for some sort of title shot at some point (US Champion maybe?). But between his injuries and backstage politics with guys like Konnan and Hogan, his fate was pretty much sealed.

I loved Vampiro during his lucha days. Dude was a really solid talent, had the IT factor and was decent on the mic and had a nice gimmick. Pretty much all the things you need for a top talent.
By the time he got to WCW his body was already breaking down. That said, he run with the Misfits wasn't bad. I didn't care much for the ICP stuff either aside from Muta and Raven, and he interacting. That was the one aspect of it, albeit short lived, that was awesome. He still could've been something in WCW or hell, WWE had they picked him up.
After that time period though his ego went even more off the rails and his body just broke down too much.

I liked him. He was an interesting Zombie character. I dug La Parka's antics too.

Great during his lucha days. In WCW he became, like Scott Keith said, the opposite of Ric Flair. When Ric could have a positive 5 star match with anyone, Vampiro could have a negative 5 star match with anyone.
If anyone wants to argue I'll just say this: Sting, Vampiro, Great American Bash, Human Torch match.

great in Mexico, but his attitude pretty much burnt a lot of bridges with a lot of big names so he never really had a lot of support in the states.

Come to think of it, so was the Oklahoma/Dr. Death/BBQ Sauce Cage match. But I blame Russo/Ferrara for that one.

Loved him in wcw, didn't see any of his lucha stuff. Like many have said his misfits run was good, the icp one, although enjoyable...not so much.
The kiss army and 'juggalos' supposedly hated each other during the whole icp run. It never made sense to me why he and the demon formed a team. Someone fill in the blanks?

I knew a guy who wrestled with vampiro in Europe for a tour. Gu has nothing but positive things to say about him. I was always a fan as well.

Liked him in WCW, when he first appeared I thought 'Wow, this guy looks amazing', not from an in ring perspective, but he had the it factor and a look that screamed marketable, a kind of handsome ugly like a rockstar, like Raven or Bret Hart... Then he was taken off TV for a loooong time for no reason. When he returned they covered him with facepaint which did nothing for me, nor did the stupid angles he was placed in.

He was alright in WCW and had a good gimmick. I liked that match in a graveyard with Sting in a stupid kind of way.

I thought he was entertaining in Mexico/WCW/WSX but from what I've read he had a major ego problem once he came stateside.
That was his downfall other than his body being tired out.

just saw some old pics of Vamp from back in the early 90's. The years were not kind to him.

I find him to be quite a sexy guy. It is like a CM Punk sexy in that he is unconventional as far as looks go, but a lot of women find CM Punk hot. But I have to say that he was or is a charismatic wrestler. However, he is quite a bit slower than he used to be.

I always liked Vampiro, but I'm an ICP fan. Though from the stuff Jericho said about him in his 1st book, I lost a lot of respect for him.
