Smack dab in the middle of SF, SJ, Sac and Stockton *shudders* Oh dear, you poor thing. Personally, I'd like to live in Fremont or Newark. Nice enough place, close to all the good areas, within an hour and a half of both of the towns my heart is in, AND! The indy promotion I go to is in Newark

The High Desert of California Bro, how do you survive the f***ing summer out there? I'm seconding this as well. That place is a death trap. The family and I went there in the summer for a family reunion. I lost a good 6 pounds through sweat in the first day.

Right here. God, we have a lot of nothing in this country. Hey, any country that gave us Scotti Andrews can't be all bad (and no, I can't post pictures because every one I seem to find she's not wearing any clothes). ;D And I have to ask this question for some reason or other. Have you ever had Haggis? I'm kind of curious about it. I was born in Blytheville, Arkansas and lived there for 11 years but I've lived in Buffalo, Wyoming the last 8. I had an uncle that lived in Buffalo and I went there a few times as a kid. Nice place. The smart ass did talk us into going to Thermopolis because he said we just had to go there ... Bro, how do you survive the f***ing summer out there? I'm seconding this as well. That place is a death trap. The family and I went there in the summer for a family reunion. I lost a good 6 pounds through sweat in the first day. I hear ya. Years back I went to Ft. Irwin California, which if I remember correctly is a ways outside of Barstow. We went out there for 3 weeks of annual training, and bah gawd, Kang, it was hot. Nothing like hearing the weather report (and granted, it was the last week of May and the first 2 weeks of June so it wasn't getting hot yet) and hearing the weather report on the radio go, "And in the high desert, expect temperatures up to 120 degrees by noon." But at least it was a dry heat ...

And of course, being Scottish, I think it's really good battered & deep fried.

I tried to get one of my buds to make some (as she is an excellent cook), but she looked up the recipe and told me I was nuts. I'm gonna do it some day, though, even if I have to make it myself.

I've never made one, I wouldn't have the guts. And just so you know, they aren't really cooked in the stomach. (Or at least, haven't been for centuries.) Chances are you'll be able to get one from a butcher in the next month or so, since it's Burns' Night on the 25th of January.
