With all the comparisons between the 2011 Packers and the 1962 NFL Champions, take a peek at this from Yahoo! Sports: "One of the more famous, or for Packers' fans infamous, Thanksgiving Day games was the 1962 game. The Packers were the defending NFL champs and came into the game undefeated with a 10-0 record. In a dominating performance on defense, the Lions sacked Packers quarterback Bart Starr 11 times, including once in the end zone for a safety. Detroit won 26-14. The loss was the only one for the Packers all season. They finished the regular season with a record of 13-1, and won their second consecutive NFL Championship. The Lions had a good year too, finishing 11-3." Crap. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Right, because we're unhappy about Nickelback performing means all the other stuff that the state is experiencing means nothing to us. That makes perfect sense. Also, the fact that we're relevant for the first time in forever is precisely why the fans are "protesting." It's a chance to showcase the city/state in a good light (which doesn't happen very often) and we'd prefer to showcase one of our own. It's no different than the city being thrilled with the Monday Night Football intro earlier this year because it captured what we feel we stand for accurately. But that's not the problem. Outside of a certain event (won't go into detail, so not to break the rules), there isn't much of any protests going on about anything. How many people were publicly outraged over the assaulting of that bus driver? Hell, it seemed like more people were outraged at the strike that followed than at the assault! And voter turnout has been abysmal; in the recent election, out of a thousand-odd registered voters, only some eighty showed up. EIGHTY! So yeah, it does look bad when people in my city won't even get off their asses to vote, let alone protest over real issues. **** a Nickelback concert; there's so much more actually pertinent issues we should be pissed off and that we need to be protesting. You're making it sound as though Lions fans took to the streets and flipped over cars. They signed an online petition. That's it. It takes seconds to do.

They should be happy that their Thanksgiving game matters for the first time since I don't know when. 2007, when the Packers were 10-1 and the Lions were 6-4. Not that long ago.

This is the best news article I've read all day. Wonderful. Nickleback should be locked away and never heard from again.

It's become the cool thing to rag on Nickelback. They're no worse than the majority of the stuff you hear on the radio and they've sold 20 million albums in the download era. so clearly someone out there likes them. Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public. - H. L. Mencken

Was Eminem not available? He'd seem like the perfect choice to perform in Detroit.

Some people need real problems Exactly. Besides, they aren't that bad. They have even had a couple of songs that are decent (Photograph and the one about beating up people who lust after your hot girlfriend).
