I think the sentiment shared by some that a Detroit act being the performer is a cool idea but my word, what is the big deal about Nickelback. The people who drone on and on about how awful they find them are more ridiculous than any Nickelback song I've ever heard.

Never mind the rampant unemployment and so forth going on in Michigan, protest a Nickelback performance. It makes perfect sense to me.

They should be happy that their Thanksgiving game matters for the first time since I don't know when.

I think "protest" is the wrong word to use in this case.

Never mind the rampant unemployment and so forth going on in Michigan, protest a Nickelback performance. It makes perfect sense to me. Right, because we're unhappy about Nickelback performing means all the other stuff that the state is experiencing means nothing to us. That makes perfect sense. Also, the fact that we're relevant for the first time in forever is precisely why the fans are "protesting." It's a chance to showcase the city/state in a good light (which doesn't happen very often) and we'd prefer to showcase one of our own. It's no different than the city being thrilled with the Monday Night Football intro earlier this year because it captured what we feel we stand for accurately.

There's a very legit case against having Nickelback do this. Well, besides being one of the blandest bands to ever exist. Detroit has such a rich musical history there's no need to outsource to a Canadian band that isn't Rush.

Seriously, I can understand why Nickelback is performing but people have every right to protest it when Detroit has a huge musical background to chose from, especially since the Lions are really building some good morale in the city. Detroit fans want their city to look great in what will be one of the most important games of the season.

Oh come on, some people signed a petition and joined a Facebook page here and there. That's pretty much the extent of it here in Detroit, and we'll just be robbed of the right thing just like when we never got that Robocop statue. Nickelback sucks.

It's no different than the city being thrilled with the Monday Night Football intro earlier this year because it captured what we feel we stand for accurately. But that's not the problem. Outside of a certain event (won't go into detail, so not to break the rules), there isn't much of any protests going on about anything. How many people were publicly outraged over the assaulting of that bus driver? Hell, it seemed like more people were outraged at the strike that followed than at the assault! And voter turnout has been abysmal; in the recent election, out of a thousand-odd registered voters, only some eighty showed up. EIGHTY! So yeah, it does look bad when people in my city won't even get off their asses to vote, let alone protest over real issues. **** a Nickelback concert; there's so much more actually pertinent issues we should be pissed off and that we need to be protesting.

It's become the cool thing to rag on Nickelback. They're no worse than the majority of the stuff you hear on the radio

Be happy to be relevant for the first time in nearly 20 years. Sure, Nickleback sucks. But, (cough, cough) come on. Ahem.
