Honorable mention to Todd Sinclair (that pun wasn't intended btw).
I also have a soft spot in my heart for Bill Alfonso.

I liked Tommy Young, the way he'd get himself into position for a count. Not just the baseball slide, he'd also jump right over a pin attempt to get the right look. He flew a lot more than a majority of the wrestlers. He didn't just count a pin, he'd also do the old-school method of sliding his hands underneath both shoulders to make sure they were down before making another count. He didn't just take abuse, he gave right back. He'd get into shoving matches with people, kick a guy's hands off the ropes if he was using them illegally.
As far as referee who takes the best bumps, Scrappy McGowan was highly underrated. (The big tall guy who looked like Danny Spivey from Center Stage.)
Also have a soft spot in my heart for Bronco Lubich from WCCW.

Also, an honorable mention has to go to Japanese indy mainstay, the late Ted Tanabe.

Tommy Young, he was always on top of things and the only guy I ever heard of to be awarded "Referee of the year"

Another one for Tommy Young. He's always who and what I think of when I think "great referee."

I've got lots of love for both Charles Robinson and Nick Patrick, but the best ever is probably Joey Marella. Also, where's the love for Tim White in this thread? I always thought he was great as well.
Never was a fan of the Hebners, especially Earl.

i've been stumped on this one though...he's not one of my favourites, but who is the ref for Piper vs. Hart at WM8? Bowl cut and wispy mustache?
