No, I'm not off my meds. I was driving home in the dark and started to get in the turn lane, only to find people standing there. In the road. Wearing dark clothing. I hit my brakes turn the wheel and come maybe three feet from them. They were terrified. I nearly piss myself. We kinda just go our own ways. If I wasn't watching what I was doing, going a reasonable speed, have pretty quick reflexes and pretty good brakes it could have been ugly. People really shouldn't stand in turn lanes at night wearing dark clothes.

Who the hell stands in turn lanes in the first place? Give me a break! Unless you have a death wish, that's the last place you want to be standing

As long as they were outside a crosswalk, you were not speeding and stopped at the scene, you would've been free of blame if they were actually hit. Not that that would've made you feel less sad about hitting them, but you wouldn't have been blamed.

This kinda reminds me of the time earlier this year that the idiot kids on bikes decided to go right in front of my car as I was driving on my street. Damn near gave me a heart attack.

We were pulling out of the driveway when we realized there was a girl behind us and slammed on the breaks. This was at 5am, and this girl was wearing black coat with black hat and texting. She had NO idea we almost flattened her. We drove up to pass her, and she STILL had no idea we were around. Her life almost ended, and she had no freaking idea.

That's the thing I really despise about driving. I can trust myself to take all the safety precautions, but I always assume that everyone else has the intelligence of a single bacterium.

I once had a guy who rode out in front of me on a bike. He was wearing dark clothes and his bike had no reflectors on it. Not a good idea considering it was ten at night. The kicker? He was crossing a divided highway.

Damn near gave me a heart attack. as a cyclist myself, I can't stand it when I see people driving their bicycles in the street instead of on the sidewalk. it's dangerous and it causes traffic to slow to a crawl.

Closest I ever came was nearly running over a big guy with a golf cart.

When I was taking my learners course, my instructor said that you should always assume everybody is an idiot because it makes you be more safe.

Yesterday when it was dark and raining there was a guy in dark clothing walking in the street against traffic. He was on the side of the street but the street none the less. Seemed rather dangerous.

My house is right next to a busy highway. There also happens to be a really crappy trailer park down the road from my neighborhood and I have to drive past it to get home. Almost every single freaking time I drive by it, there's a black guy in black clothes riding a bike in the street. I don't have the best eyesight anyway, so it's a miracle I haven't killed someone yet.

Hell, just the other night I saw a guy out walking on the sidewalk and he was wearing reflectors - very smart. It should be (and maybe it is, I'm not totally sure) illegal to walk/bike at night without reflectors, and if you get caught without them you get a fine.
