Yes. She's not very good but calling her the worst wrestler in the world is a bit of a stretch considering all the untalented lugs out there on the indys (no offense to any of the indy workers who post here of course). I agree. She may not set the ring on fire, but there are far worse examples.

Her main problem is that the booking still seems to almost revolve around her. She isn't bad per-se but she's not good enough to justify that. This. She is no Jenna Morasca, BUT getting the mega push and the fact the division revolves around her, despite her poor sklills, is the problem. She probably is the WORST in ring KO they have right now, even Tessmacher is better than her. A pretty face doe not make a champion, if your skills are poor. You will get crappy championship matches as a result, which will just give reason for some to say the WWE diva division is better now.

Of course there are.
However, factoring in her push, coupled with how good she should be in reflection of how much people, not long ago, wanted her to get pushed, then she is painfully bad. She is my wrestling hate figure.

No it's clarity hitting you in the face. I can't stand Cena apologists. Wow, you.. you really believe that, don't you? That's... well, amazing, really. Honestly, in 2011, the only people I can honestly understand saying that are blind Cena-haters and 12 year olds on YouTube that say stuff like "PG SUX" and "Additud Rulz" because boobs and bloodshed. This is a guy who has proven, on almost any stage, that he can bring it. He carried the frickin' Great Khali to a watchable match. Cena, in my humble opinion, has proven to rational people that he, in fact, CAN wrestle. Yea keep telling yourself that. He's a sport entertainer who can handle himself in the ring but he's not a good a wrestler. He can't hang with the best. The reason people have come to accept him it's because of his mega push. Even the doubters when you say that someone is great long enough and make him beat everybody, people will start believing it. And after a while Vince succeeded and he knew that would happen.

Indeed, our brains have been conditioned for years now to think Cena is good by the very nature of his relentless superman booking. Very few people, I see it all the time in my work which involves many terroristic cults, can completely maintain their original negative mindset concerning a subject in the face of such a consistent onslaught of positive reinforcement.

I think part of why Velvet gets such a bad rap is little things about the way she's presented, like how the camera man always zooms right up on her butt. That kinda stuff gives TNA a trash TV reputation in general, and that kind of TV is not in fashion right now. It's not the 90s. I believe the female wrestlers that are the biggest potential draws and have the widest level of appeal, are ones who are attractive enough to grab the attention of that "apartment wrestling" segment of the fan base, but also display a level of talent and powerful individuality that female fans respect. Examples would be like Wendi Richter, Sherri Martel, and (eventually) Trish Stratus. Also, the success of Kong/Kharma and Chyna before her has proven that like in Japan, there is a market for a female destroyer among American wrestling fans.
Maybe Velvet could be a huge star in the mold of Richter or Stratus, but she would have to be presented in a different light. As is, she'll never be more than a novelty attraction for people that think she's hot, and looks don't last forever.

YES! Sheesh, I don't get the hate she gets. Are people honestly saying she is worse than say Kelly Kelly?

YES! Sheesh, I don't get the hate she gets. Are people honestly saying she is worse than say Kelly Kelly? I don't think she is worse than Kelly Kelly. I ask because of the hate she seems to get on this particular board. IMO, she is no Sarah del Rey or Cheerleader Melissa, but she is no Kelly Kelly. She is just an average wrestler who can be a good wrestler. She just needs to do a better job of running the ropes, though.

As is, she'll never be more than a novelty attraction for people that think she's hot, and looks don't last forever. I think men don't think that differently than girls in this matter in that we know who dress and act like sluts and can't wrestle. I usualy prefer those to be valets. There was a level of respect coming from guys for Richter and Trish and Medusa and they excite me more than the useless ones that can't wrestle and look like barbie dolls. Of course we like attractive women but if it's the two elements combined it can be someone that we can get behind to(no pun intended). It's like female Tennis, when you have two mildly attractive girls who can play and have a great match, it's very watchable and you can get a crush on seeing these fine specimens(lol). It's the difference between wanting to jerk off on seeing a sort of chicks and having a crush on another sort of girls. It depends what type of perception certain ladies want to have, want to convey. To get a type of Wendi Richter or Trish it would have to come from someone like Sarita turning face. She's sweet, good-looking and is a pretty solid performer. She would command that type of respect.
