Okay, I've done a thread about JCVD, I've done a thread about Steven Seagal, and just recently, I did a thread about Arnie himself. Now, I'm doing a thread about Sly himself.
What movies of his did you like? I know he has plenty of classics out there, but I feel like I've missed out on some of them and have yet to see some. I have seen all 6 Rocky movies. My favorites are 1, 2, 3, and 6. Rocky IV wasn't bad but it was rather cheesy in that there were music video montages and felt too nationalist (I have read that the Soviets were America's primary enemy in the 80s). As for V, I can understand if a lot of people want to disregard that movie but I didn't think it was THAT bad.
I have not seen any of the Rambo/First Blood movies and I really feel like I should see them, as I have read that they were classics, though I have read that First Blood 3 was the weakest of the bunch. I have read that the fourth movie was awesome.
I thought Demolition Man was good in its own way. Full of great action, and it was funny in some areas. Of course, I would never want to live in such a society. Well, maybe Denis Leary's character's little society.
I have heard mixed opinions about Judge Dredd, but I am still considering watching them.
I thought that The Expendables was an awesome movie. No story, yes, but great fight scenes and action.
I need to see more of his movies. I remember seeing bits and pieces of The Specialist when I was younger, same with Assassins. Also, I've read that Cop Land was good and I know that was a cop drama. I've heard that Oscar was a funny movie. I remember seeing bits and pieces of that one.
Which ones did you like?

I liked his cheesy comedies. Tango and Cash, Stop or my Mom will Shoot.. not sure what else I've seen him in though
only other thing I've seen him in that was watchable was Rocky V.
I'm not a fan of his.

I like Rocky, the sequels not too much. First Blood is pretty good and First Blood Part II. Nighthawks and Cop Land are underrated and Cobra is cheesy fun. I always thought Demolition Man and Judge Dread were connected in some way. I don't like Tango and Cash, Daylight, Cliffhanger or Assassins. His comedies, Rhinestone and Oscar I like. Stop or my Mom will shoot is Stallones answer to Kindergarten Cop but one up Arnold by using an old lady. I didn't like it.

Not a huge Stallone mark, the Rocky films are mostly good but as an action guy he doesn't really do it for me. Although some of the other movies themselves he's done i did enjoy like Demolition Man, Cobra, I even somewhat enjoyed Judge Dredd. Copland was excellent and he was good in that, probably his best dramatic performance that i've ever seen, but that's not saying too much when his roles usually consist of him mumbling and slurring a few one-liners. I was very disappointed with The Expendables, good idea on paper maybe but when you cram all those action stars into one movie then there just isn't enough for them all to do. The characters were just not built well, even the Arnie and Willis cameos were just disappointing. The only character that was somewhat interesting was Dolph Lundgren's which was essentially a re-hash of his unhinged Universal Soldier character. {Spoiler}And when he came back at the end it was so lame, forgive and forget even though earlier he was spraying automatic weapon bullets at them? The fight scenes sucked as well, jumping on the shaky-cam bandwagon Sly? As a seasoned movie pro you should know better.

Rocky 1 and First Blood are great, great movies. Anyone who suggests that Sly is a bad actor MUST watch those. Cop Land, too. The man can be damn good when he wants to.

I don't think F.I.S.T gets enough love.
But as for my absolute favorties: the first two Rockys, Rocky Balboa and First Blood.

I'm a big Sylvester Stallone fan, and love the vast majority of his movies.
Big favorites include: All Rockys (even 5), All Rambos, Assassins (I consider this kind of a "smart" Stallone movie...I dunno it just really left a great impression on me), and Demolition Man.
Stallone is just fun for me to watch. I great enjoyed Expendables too, but I didn't get the nostalgic "feel good" sensation I got from Rambo 4 and Rocky 6. Great flick though.

I know that it's not a popular opinion, and even Sly himself hates it... But I've always liked "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot".
"Cobra" is probably my favorite Stallone movie though.

I forgot to mention that Cobra is a classic. Really cheesy, yet so awesome.

I LOVE Sylvester Stallone! He is only second to Arnold in terms of best action stars of all time in my opinion.
The Rocky and Rambo franchises would make him beyond awesome by themselve, but he has some other really solid movies in there too. Demolition Man is particularly good.
Some of his lesser known works have their moments. The opening monologue from Cobra is badass, but the rest of the movie does not really live up to it. Driven is also pretty underated.

First Blood and Rocky stand out for most people, and I'm no different.
I love Tango & Cash as I'm a huge Kurt Russell mark.
Demolition Man was great too, though Wesley Snipes stole the show in that one.
I enjoyed the hell out of Expendables and I can't wait for the sequel.

What did people think of Get Carter? I have read that some people didn't like it, some others did like it. I guess some people would rather watch the original Michael Caine film, which I am not opposed to watching, by the way.
Has anybody seen Avenging Angelo?
