Went into the bathroom this morning at about 2am and found one of my cats, Rzane, lying motionless on the bathroom floor. He hadn't been feeling well lately, and I was getting ready to take him to the vet this morning...but he didn't make it that far. He was 11, and my favorite cat that I've ever owned. What a way to start off the New Year :*( RIP Rzane, you will be sorely missed

I'm sure Rzane has joined my kitty Frannie up in the heavens eating caviar while sitting around in top hats and monocles.
RIP to your kitty.

Oh man, my sympathies. What a horrible way to start the year.
I am sure he is being comforted and cuddled with my own kitties who have passed over the Rainbow Bridge over the years.
PM box is open.

Ah man, condolences. I know how you're feeling, my cat was my best friend and it killed me when I lost him three or so years ago. He was 14. But i'm sure he's being welcoming to Rzane up in Kitty Heaven.

Sorry for your loss. How did you come by the name Rzane? Thanks, everyone, I really appreciate your words. This is why I love coming to this Forum...you guys (and gals) are awesome. And as far as his name goes...he originally was my sister's cat, and she gave him the name. She wanted to call him Zane, but our last name is Rzepka with a silent R (we're Polish), so we decided to put the silent R on his name as well. Yeah, we're dorks, lol.

Cats have such recognizable personalities, so it makes it even harder to say goodbye. Unfortunately, you didn't get a proper chance to. I was "fortunate" enough to be able to take mine in back in 2010 - he was 21-years-old, and I never forget how lucky I was to spend 19 years of my life with him.
From one Portage-ian to another, I'm very sorry about your loss.

I'm sorry to hear that. *hugs* The more I think about it, though, I think it was better that my cat passed away here at home, because I don't think I would have been able to go through with having him put to sleep. I loved that cat too much to do that to him.

Yeah, that is the downside to having pets for that long...you know in your heart that they aren't going to live forever, and one day you'll have to deal with this situation. I try not to think about it. And yeah, I should change my location. I am a former Portage-ian, and I spent most of my life there, but I live in DeMotte now. Had to move cuz of my job. But wherebouts in Portage do you live? I was on Independence Ave, near County Line and Lake Station.

Feel ya bro. Had to put my cat down last Friday, despite me wanting him to die at home. Had him since 1997, so to say it was hell would be an understatement Sorry man

Had him since 1997, so to say it was hell would be an understatement Sorry man I honestly just don't understand how some people, when you tell them that your cat has died, are just like 'oh well he was just a cat'. Most of the people who've said this have never owned a cat before. They become part of your family. My girlfriend and I have made the conscious decision that we aren't going to ever have kids, so our animals are like our kids. When one of them is taken from you, it breaks your heart.

My condolences. I grew up with four cats (among other pets); mom and I were in anguish when one of them was killed, and it was basically as bad when we had to give the others away. I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm sure Rzane's up to mischief with all our old cats.

Honestly, cats and dogs are special to the people they live with. I do not say 'owners' because, in truth, they own us, a special place in our hearts. They are family to us, they care when we're sick, comfort when we're in pain and make us smile just by sharing in the joys of life. So it is devastating to anyone who passes for human when our companions in life get old, get sick and eventually move on to whatever is to come.
My way of saying don't ever let someone tell you you are wrong for mourning. Trust me, you show more of your character by mourning than they do by breathing.

My cat Poochie has been dead for over 2 years now. We had him for 19 1/2 years. I was lucky enough to see him and say goodbye to him the night he died. I'll always remember him. He was MY cat.
Rzane is now up there and is in good company. I hate coming in this forum to bad news, but I REALLY hate coming in seeing someones cat died. Rest in peace kitty!
